Good deeds spread in Vietnam professional basketball tournament

In 2019, Saigon Heat Club successfully organized the "Teddy Bear Toss" event for the first time. Specifically, during the halftime of the team's home match, thousands of teddy bears prepared by the audience were thrown onto the field. These teddy bears were then donated as gifts to Saigon Children's Charity, a charity organization for children in Ho Chi Minh City. To date, "Teddy Bear Toss" has become an annual event in the Vietnam professional basketball league, helping to bring warm joy to children every Mid-Autumn Festival.

Also in the 2019 VBA season, in response to the bone cancer situation of young player Nguyen Thanh Tung, VBA and Cantho Catfish Club decided to raise funds through successful 3-pointers from players in the match. Not only that, Thanh Tung was also given a unique experience with a "one-day" contract as a player. Accordingly, the energetic young man was able to fight alongside and burn himself out as a reserve player of Cantho Catfish Club in the second round of the 2019 VBA finals.

At VBA 2023, Nha Trang Dolphins Club also carried out a project to raise scholarship funds for children of SOS Village Nha Trang through successful three-point shots in 2 home matches. Last year, the club also celebrated a birthday and created seasonal employment for Nguyen Hoang Nhut - a young basketball enthusiast who was born deaf and mute and had a difficult family situation.

Since its establishment, all clubs at VBA have sought opportunities to visit, exchange and give meaningful gifts such as basketball poles, scholarships, etc. to local schools where the team is stationed. On November 19 at Ho Xuan Huong Stadium (HCMC), VBA coordinated with Fabo Nguyen to organize the All-Stars Ball Out tournament to raise funds for charity. The tournament has the participation of 20 guests including professional athletes, singers, actors, etc. Notable at this charity fundraising match are the best player of VBA 2023 Kentrell Barkley, former captain of the Vietnam basketball team Justin Young, defender Tran Dang Khoa, young star Caleb Nguyen, etc.
