On the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference taking place in Germany, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi held a bilateral meeting on February 16, as the two countries are making efforts to increase high-level contacts after a long period of tension on many issues.
According to Xinhua News Agency, at the meeting, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi affirmed that the two sides had frank, substantive, and constructive discussions.

According to Mr. Wang Yi, the most important task of the two sides now is to implement the strategic guidance of the two countries' leaders at the summit late last year to turn the "San Francisco Vision" into reality, as well as promote healthy, stable and sustainable development in bilateral relations.
On the same day, a press release from the US State Department said that at the meeting, Secretary Blinken emphasized the importance of implementing the progress that US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed to achieve at the summit, including anti-drug cooperation and communication between the two countries' militaries.
The statement said the two top diplomats of the US and China discussed a range of strategic issues, including maintaining bilateral communication, consultations in important areas as well as regional and international issues of mutual concern.
According to US media, this meeting between the two foreign ministers could pave the way for a phone call between the two countries' leaders in the near future.
