Hung Yen has a favorable geographical location, synchronous regional traffic infrastructure; located next to Hanoi and belongs to the Northern key economic region, the Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh growth triangle, bordering dynamically developing localities.

The establishment of the new Hung Yen province along with the Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Government has expanded development space, created more advantages in terms of land fund, human resources, industrial potential, urban areas and marine economy; at the same time, created momentum for Hung Yen to break through, integrate deeply, develop rapidly and sustainably.

In the 2020-2025 term, strategic breakthroughs were implemented quite comprehensively, with some areas achieving outstanding results, especially in traffic infrastructure. The transport and urban infrastructure system in the area has made important progress. The network of national highways, expressways, bridges over the Red River and Tra Ly River has been formed, creating favorable conditions for connection with Hanoi , Hai Phong, Quang Ninh and other provinces in the region. The inland waterway system has been initially exploited, promoting the advantages of the Red River, Luoc River, and Tra Ly River for freight transport, contributing to changing the face of socio-economic infrastructure, expanding the investment corridor and creating competitive advantages for Hung Yen.

Hung Yen has focused on implementing many important traffic projects such as: Investment project to build Ring Road 4 - Hanoi Capital Region; CT.08 expressway project passing through the province - key traffic project in the Red River Delta, connecting Ninh Binh with Hai Phong; investment project to build coastal road section through the province; construction project of road side connecting Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway with Cau Gie - Ninh Binh expressway; Tan Phuc - Vong Phan road project (assignment to DT.378)...

One of the important projects that will create momentum for the province's socio-economic development to be put into operation and use in the 2020-2025 period is the road connecting the Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway with the Cau Gie - Ninh Binh expressway, to be completed in 2023. The project plays an important role in the key economic core zone of the North and is the driving force for the development of the Red River Delta region, the Hanoi Capital region, Hung Yen and Ninh Binh.

The province prioritizes investment in multimodal transport infrastructure, developing seaports, traffic axes connecting expressways and national highways, shortening the geographical distance between Hung Yen and Hanoi, the provinces of the Red River Delta and the Northern Coast; at the same time, forming axis routes connecting economic, industrial, urban, commercial and tourist centers in the province.

Along with that, Hung Yen proposed a series of key solutions such as developing synchronous and modern socio-economic infrastructure, especially traffic and urban infrastructure... From there, it will help connect with Hanoi city, neighboring provinces; industrial parks, river port systems, seaports, inland waterway wharves, dry ports and economic, industrial, commercial and logistics centers.
