(Baohatinh.vn) - In recent days, fishermen in Tien Dien commune (Ha Tinh) have had a big catch of herring, so they are excited to go out to sea, earning millions of dong every day.

Every morning at around 7am, fishing boats return one after another after a night of hard work at sea. On board are nets laden with herring and the joy and excitement of the fishermen.

The bustling atmosphere of fishermen harvesting herring

Fisherman Tran Van Nhien, Yen Ngu village (Tien Dien commune) excitedly said: " After a long night at sea , my family's two fishing boats caught 1.4 tons of herring, after deducting expenses, we earned 12 million VND. On this occasion, most fishermen here have a big catch of herring, the average yield is from 500 - 700 kg/boat/trip, some lucky boats get more than 1 ton".

Fishermen rhythmically shake their nets to let the herrings fall.

"Normally, the annual herring season in Tien Dien commune starts from January to May, exploited in coastal areas " - fisherman Pham Van Quang, Yen Lieu village said.

According to fishermen, over the past 3 days, herring have been appearing densely at sea, about 10-15 nautical miles from shore. Therefore, starting at 8pm the night before, fishermen set sail and return at dawn the next day.

....and are collected by the boat owner and sold to traders right on the shore.

Busy purchasing fish for fishermen, Mrs. Tran Thi Van (left) - a trader here said: " On days when fishermen have a big catch of herring, I purchase 3 - 5 tons per day to import to the market in Nghe An . Currently, herring is purchased at a fairly high price of 13,000 - 20,000 VND/kg".

After collection, the herring are transported for consumption.

Herring has high nutritional content, fragrant meat, fatty taste is processed into delicious dishes, in which fresh fish is made into salad, grilled, fried. In addition, herring is also used as an ingredient to produce fish sauce with a delicious and characteristic flavor.
