Previously, the LDT patient had back pain so he went to see a doctor and received private treatment with both injectable and oral painkillers. However, later, the patient had abdominal pain and was taken to Tam Nong District Health Center for emergency treatment in a state of abdominal cramps and severe abdominal pain above the navel.
Through clinical and paraclinical examination, the doctor diagnosed the patient with a perforated hollow viscus and required immediate emergency surgery.
Dr. Dang Quoc Cuong - Head of the Department of General Surgery - said: The surgical team performed surgery to suture the perforated stomach, cleaned the abdominal cavity and used antibiotics to treat the patient's infection. Currently, the patient is awake, eating, drinking, moving normally and is expected to be discharged after a few days.

According to Dr. Cuong, there are two groups of causes leading to stomach perforation: benign ulcers and cancer. In which, benign ulcers are often caused by prolonged stress, use of painkillers containing corticosteroids, alcohol abuse, etc.
Currently, many patients taking medicine for bone and joint diseases often suffer from stomach pain and stomach ulcers due to the use of painkillers containing corticosteroids. Here, doctors said they have treated many cases of patients with ulcers and stomach perforations due to the use of traditional medicine, Chinese medicine or bone and joint drugs mixed with corticosteroids.
Doctors recommend that people should pay attention when choosing appropriate medical examination addresses. Treatment of chronic bone and joint diseases is often long-term and requires careful consultation from experienced doctors to avoid dangerous complications such as peptic ulcers, gastric bleeding, perforation of the stomach and duodenum, which can be life-threatening.
