Textiles and garments are one of four export groups with over 1 billion USD to Korea in the first 6 months of 2025.

Exports of goods to the Korean market, one of the five largest markets of our country, along with the US, China, EU, and Japan, continued to maintain an impressive growth rate in the first half of 2025.

According to statistics from the Customs Department, Vietnam's export turnover to South Korea in June 2025 alone reached 2.3 billion USD, up 7.6% over the previous month. With this result, the total export turnover in the first 6 months of 2025 reached more than 13.7 billion USD, up 12.3% over the same period last year.

The group of computers, products and components with the highest export turnover in the first 6 months of 2025 was worth 4.1 billion USD, up 59.8%, accounting for 30% of the total. Next was the group of phones of all kinds and components with 1.79 billion USD, up 1.3%, accounting for 13% of the total.

Machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts reached 1.5 billion USD, textiles 1.34 billion USD.

Thus, in the past 6 months, the export turnover of the 4 above-mentioned products reached over 1 billion USD. However, apart from computers and phones which have grown, textiles and machinery and equipment recorded a slight decrease compared to the same period, with a decrease of 1.4% and 6.4% respectively.

Some other export commodity groups to Korea with impressive export turnover increases are: coffee, turnover of 129 million USD, up 70.4%; pepper 28.3 million USD, up 42.6%; fertilizers of all kinds 44.7 million USD, up 13.2%; means of transport and spare parts 900 million USD, up nearly 11%; toys, sports equipment and parts 22.5 million USD, up 16.4%...

With the current export momentum, by the end of July 2025, the list of commodity groups with large export turnover, reaching over 1 billion USD to Korea, will have additional means of transport and spare parts.

Vietnam - Korea trade exchange is being supported by a series of bilateral and multilateral FTAs. In particular, the Vietnam - Korea Bilateral Free Trade Agreement (VKFTA) which took effect from the end of 2015 has been contributing to further promoting political , economic and cultural relations between the two countries, further tightening the strategic cooperative partnership.

At the end of this year, VKFTA will mark 10 years of implementation.

In addition to bilateral FTAs, Vietnamese businesses have more options when conducting import-export trade activities with Korea, thanks to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) which has been in effect since 2022 and another multilateral FTA, the ASEAN-Korea Free Trade Agreement (AKFTA).

To further facilitate trade, Vietnam and South Korea signed a Recognition Agreement on Priority Enterprises late last year.

According to Vietnam Customs, signing the Mutual Recognition Agreement on Priority Enterprises is a trend and brings many benefits to enterprises and helps customs management work more smoothly. The biggest purpose of signing the Agreement is to bring long-term benefits to enterprises.

The agreement also helps effectively implement regulations in the Vietnam-Korea Free Trade Agreement (VKFTA) and the Trade Facilitation Agreement of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
