Journalists join in showing gratitude to Vietnamese teachers

Công LuậnCông Luận20/11/2024

(CLO) November 20th is an annual occasion for the whole society to honor teachers who have devoted their lives to the cause of education and training of the younger generation. To express this sentiment, many journalists have created and produced carefully invested journalistic works. At the same time, with respect, journalists always accompany and share difficulties with the education sector in mountainous areas.

Accompanying and sharing with the education sector

Among many different fields, writing about teachers and the education sector has always attracted the attention of many journalists across the country. Many journalists who have tackled this topic have invested heavily in both content and presentation. In particular, the work analyzes in depth the "hot" issues of the education sector and the existing limitations of the sector. At the same time, it records the actual implementation or social criticism of the sector's policies and decisions; and records the thoughts and aspirations of parents and students.

The series of articles "Decree 116 on ordering teacher training: Excited supply - Indifferent demand", including a series of 3 articles by journalist Le Thi Thu and colleagues at the News Department (VOV1), Voice of Vietnam was honored to receive the Special Prize of the National Press Award for the Cause of Vietnamese Education.

Talking to reporters of the Journalist & Public Opinion Newspaper, journalist Le Thi Thu, representative of the group of authors, said: "We wrote this series of articles with the hope of explaining why a humane policy, aiming to attract good students to study pedagogy through the training ordering mechanism, is "stuck" when implemented? Why are localities lacking teachers but still not "keen" on ordering training? This reality requires an early solution to "unblock" Decree 116 for the task of ordering teacher training" - journalist Le Thi Thu shared.

Recalling the time of writing the work, journalist Le Thi Thu said that in implementing this topic, the group of authors also faced many challenges because the topic was macro-scale and had a great impact. The challenge was from coming up with ideas, how to cleverly title the article to clearly express what we wanted to convey: the relationship between "supply" and "demand", but in terms of hot and cold, "enthusiastic" and "indifferent"... and the people in the middle were the pedagogical students. If the relationship between "supply" and "demand" is cleared, the students benefit from the policy, but if that relationship is stuck, the students suffer...

"Therefore, we think the biggest challenge for this series is not going on business trips to remote areas like the other articles we do, but how to convince our characters to be willing to share and how to capture their good ideas," commented the representative of the group of authors.

In addition to articles on education policies and mechanisms, many journalists also focus on exploiting and searching for teachers who are always devoted to their beloved students. For example, the story associated with Tak Po school belonging to Tra Tap Primary Boarding School (Nam Tra My district, Quang Nam province) where the article and photos of the opening ceremony were simple and plain, which were reflected in the work "Emotional opening ceremony on Ngoc Linh peak" by journalist Thai Ba Dung (Tuoi Tre Newspaper). After being published, Tak Po school received support from philanthropists.

Through the articles and photos published, journalist Thai Ba Dung in particular and many reporters and journalists in the education sector feel more proud to be a bridge, to convey and express the concerns of the characters to everyone. But to do this, journalists must go deep, live directly in that situation, to listen and share... only then can they write the most truthful and objective stories.

Supporting and sharing difficulties with teachers and students in mountainous areas

In recent years, in addition to the communication work accompanying the education sector, the Journalist & Public Opinion Newspaper has always made efforts to share with education in disadvantaged areas. The "Green Dream" program initiated by the Newspaper has shared with hundreds of poor students and supported facilities for schools in mountainous provinces.

As in October 2024, the working group of the Journalist & Public Opinion Newspaper traveled nearly 400km to deliver sets of student desks and chairs, essential learning tools and equipment... to students in mountainous districts of Lao Cai province, helping them to study in more adequate conditions.

Cao Son Primary Boarding School (Cao Son Commune, Muong Khuong District, Lao Cai Province) is one of the delegation's destinations. This is one of the 10 most difficult mountainous communes in Lao Cai Province, and only when you come to the remote areas of Cao Son Commune, Muong Khuong District can you fully feel the hardships of the teachers and students in the highlands. Thick layers of white fog cover the mountains, the temperature gradually increases at noon, and around 4 p.m. when the sun sets, the cold air covers this place again.

Along with the difficult economic conditions, the schools and school sites of the commune are currently facing certain problems. In addition to the fact that students have to go to school far from home due to traffic problems, the living and studying conditions of the students are also difficult. Kindergarten and grade 1 and 2 students will study at school sites in the villages, while grade 3 students will study at boarding schools in the commune center.

Sharing the difficulties of teachers and students here, the delegation gave gifts to support teachers and students of the school. Including: water tanks, washing machines, refrigerators, heating lamps, dining tables and chairs, in addition to 50 mattresses, 50 cotton blankets, 192 pillows, bed sheets... learning and living supplies for students. The delegation's gifts not only directly support boarding students but these gifts will also be sent to schools, helping them to be warmer in the upcoming winter.

According to Mr. Hoang Truong Minh, Vice Chairman of Muong Khuong District People's Committee: "The working group of Nha Bao and Cong Luan Newspaper traveled hundreds of kilometers to the children in the highlands to give very practical and meaningful gifts, supporting teachers and students as well as the people here to reduce difficulties in life... In the process of developing the education sector of the district, the cooperation of the press agencies is needed to help Cao Son commune and Muong Khuong district continue to develop".

It can be said that throughout their journey, journalists always accompany the education sector and teachers. They share the difficulties with teachers every day and every hour in the career of "cultivating people". Through each journalistic work and each gift sent to the highlands, journalists have a common spirit of sharing and understanding, and that is always the most valuable thing throughout this journey.
