According to information from airlines, bad weather at Tan Son Nhat airport is the main cause of this situation. Vietnam Airlines has also issued a notice, predicting that some flights will be affected.
"Flights to Ho Chi Minh City must wait to land, causing a chain reaction to the schedule of several other flights during the noon and early afternoon of December 12" - Vietnam Airlines announced.
Passengers also reported delays. The flight from Chu Lai to Tan Son Nhat was delayed. Tuyet Anh wondered whether the flight from Kuala Lumpur to Tan Son Nhat, scheduled to land at 8:50 p.m., would be affected.

According to Tuoi Tre Online sources, one of the reasons flights have to circle to wait for landing is due to changes in wind direction.
This forced air traffic control to request a change of landing direction to ensure safety. From 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm, showers appeared in the area near the airport, visibility reduced to only 3,000-5,000 meters.
When flights approach the runway, the wind changes suddenly and increases in intensity. This makes the landing change procedure necessary. This is a normal procedure in flight operations in Vietnam as well as in the world , and does not cause danger or threaten flight safety.
Airlines recommend passengers follow updated information from the airline to understand the schedule and limit inconvenience due to this force majeure.
