World- class hitter returns

In the men's tournament, coach Duong Tan Vinh of the Ho Chi Minh City Police team said that the team will have the return of former captain of the Polish volleyball team Michal Kubiak. This player won the men's volleyball world championship with the Polish team in 2014 and 2018, and has played professionally in the world's top tournaments.

In the first phase of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship held in March, 37-year-old Michal Kubiak still showed his class when helping the Ho Chi Minh City Police team win all 5 matches. With a height of 1.92 m and an attacking jump of up to 3.47 m, Michal Kubiak is especially effective in high-altitude attacks. In addition, this hitter also serves powerfully and handles the ball skillfully and classy. By keeping Michal Kubiak and possessing a quality domestic squad such as Quan Trong Nghia, Pham Quoc Du, Nguyen Dinh Nhu, Tran Trien Chieu, etc., the Ho Chi Minh City Police team continues to be a strong candidate for the championship title in its first season playing in the national championship.

The most formidable opponent of the Ho Chi Minh City Police team is the Border Guard Club, which has decided to use a familiar foreign player from Thailand, Jakkrit Thanomnoi. The Border Guard Club is considered a miniature Vietnam team when it gathers players Nguyen Ngoc Thuan, Pham Van Hiep, Dinh Van Duy, and Tran Duy Tuyen. In the first phase, the Border Guard Club also achieved a perfect record of 5 wins. Coach Tran Dinh Tien and his team are in the process of carefully preparing for the goal of defending the championship title against fierce competition from the Ho Chi Minh City Police team.

Ambitious teams in the men's league such as The Cong and Sanest Khanh Hoa are also ready for the race in the second phase of the national championship. Sanest Khanh Hoa Club has successfully recruited Argentine foreign player Federico Pereyra.

Concerns in organization

The competition in the second phase and the final round of the women's tournament is more exciting than the men's tournament. As of yesterday, 7/8 women's teams have reached agreements to recruit foreign players. Notably, there are foreign players from the US such as Roni Jones Perry of VTV Binh Dien Long An Club, Leah Hardeman of Thanh Hoa Club. In addition, there are athletes from Europe such as Miroslava Paskova (Bulgaria) playing for LPBank Ninh Binh Club, Irina Voronkova (Russia) joining the Information Corps team, Anna Belyanskaya (Russia) of the Industrial and Commercial Bank Club, Helena Grozer (Czech Republic) joining the Thai Binh team.

To upgrade the squad, contributing to increasing the quality and attractiveness of the national volleyball championship, clubs in Vietnam have spent a lot of money to recruit foreign players in addition to training and competition costs. The teams' schedules are based on the early plans of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV). Therefore, some teams cannot help but worry, even be upset when VFV changes the competition schedule for phase 2 and the final round. Moving the competition schedule 3 days earlier than expected puts some clubs in a difficult position when they have to change their eating, accommodation and travel schedules. Not to mention they have to work with foreign players again when the schedule changes.

The coach of a team participating in the tournament said that Vietnamese volleyball is trying to professionalize, so other than force majeure, the competition schedule should not be changed because it will affect many other issues and show a lack of professionalism.

Phase 2 and the final round of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship will take place from October 7 to 16 in Ninh Binh. The 8 teams participating in the men's tournament are Ho Chi Minh City Police, Border Guard, The Cong, Da Nang, Sanest Khanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, Long An, and Hanoi. The 8 teams participating in the women's tournament are LPBank Ninh Binh, VTV Binh Dien Long An, Information Corps, Industrial and Commercial Bank, Duc Giang Chemicals, Thanh Hoa, Thai Binh, and Ho Chi Minh City.
