My family has a tradition of organizing summer trips for the children. This year the whole family will go on a trip together.

I love to travel, but when it comes to family travel, I get bored. Last year's trip left me with terrible memories.

Traveling on your own, just arguing is tiring

The whole family went by private four-seater car. As soon as the car started moving, it started to rain. My husband kept complaining that we didn’t choose a good day to leave, which was why we were so unlucky. He left everything to me, but he was very enthusiastic in criticizing and giving advice. So we had an argument. I had to keep my anger inside.

Traveling on a tight family budget, we decided to book a motel instead of a hotel. We were told that the motel had no elevator, so carrying our luggage to our room was a pain in the knees.

I had just sat down to rest when I heard my husband screaming because the big flat screen TV had no internet connection. The fan didn’t work, and the air conditioner made a loud noise. The room was small and stuffy, the bathroom had a hot water system with exposed wires that scared me so much I didn’t dare take a bath, there were no towels, no face towels, the soap was already thin, and there was no toilet paper.

I complained to the motel because it was not in accordance with the contract. Finally, after an argument, the motel returned my deposit. My whole family felt extremely frustrated when we had to waste time renting a hotel.

So the husband blamed his wife for all sorts of things, including things that had nothing to do with her, like forgetting to bring this or that because he was absent-minded and in a hurry.

At the peak, my husband kept calculating, complaining about the high price, complaining about this and that, blaming me for everything from the room price to the food. My husband wanted to save money, but the children wanted to eat the specialties in the restaurant. What should I do?

My husband likes to travel independently because he has the freedom to explore the way the whole family wants, to learn and discover local specialties.

Travel on your own, go wherever you want, for however long you want. Eat whenever you want, rest whenever you want, it's up to the whole family. Experience and explore at your leisure, not depending on the tour's timetable, even though the cost of traveling on your own is much higher than the tour.

I like to go on tours, I can choose tours with extremely good prices, especially domestic tours.

The whole family will be taken care of by the tour leader and tour guide for every meal and sleep, which if I were to travel on my own, I would have to take care of everything. We will visit many places on the journey, and listen to explanations and introductions about history and culture.

When we go on a tour, we have someone wake us up early and no one in the family dares to complain, while if we go on our own, I will have to be the one to wake each member up, then urge them to go down to the restaurant for breakfast. Then take care of the whole family to experience the strange local dishes.

I have the need to travel, not to be a "nanny". When traveling, I must prioritize rest. I have the right to choose to go sightseeing, everything else is taken care of.

Traveling together is to create sympathy, to have a chance to sit together, to know and learn about local culture and traditions, not to go to be afraid, to have a wary mentality and never want to go again.
