In his opening speech, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, called on every citizen of the city to build the awareness of self-study, study more, study forever, to develop themselves, master technology and knowledge, and contribute to the common development.
City residents should actively participate in the week's activities, turning the spirit of lifelong learning into practical actions in work and life, so that each person is a digital citizen, a global learning citizen.
At the same time, Mr. Hieu also requested that Party committees, authorities, and organizations at all levels in 168 wards, communes, and special zones need to thoroughly grasp the Party's guidelines and State policies on "Building a learning society, ensuring that all citizens have equal opportunities in learning and training".

"The People's Committees of 168 wards, communes and special zones actively develop and implement plans to build a learning society in the area, to help each person have a better life and society become more civilized and prosperous," Mr. Hieu suggested.
Also participating in the Lifelong Learning Week was Mr. Tran Tien Phuoc, currently working in the drainage industry in Ho Chi Minh City, who has just completed high school. During the day he works, and in the evening he studies at the District 8 Vocational Education and Continuing Education Center.

Mr. Phuoc shared that due to his previous circumstances, he did not have the opportunity to finish high school and take the graduation exam, so now that he has the opportunity, he is determined to go back to school to complete his unfinished work.
"I want to study to set an example for my children, so that they believe that studying is the best path. Studying gives me the opportunity to make up for it, to get a degree that I couldn't get when I was young. I also want to tell my children not to miss the opportunity, it's never too late to study" - Mr. Phuoc expressed.
Also at the opening ceremony, the organizers awarded 16 scholarships to exemplary students in lifelong learning.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, Ho Chi Minh City organized a car parade to launch the Lifelong Learning Week. It is known that at the same time, 168 wards, communes and special zones in Ho Chi Minh City also opened the Lifelong Learning Week in their localities.
