During 1975 and 1976, Cuba donated 887 dairy cows to Vietnam to raise and breed at Moc Chau Farm.
Previously, in the first batch, in 1970, Cuba helped Vietnam with 129 dairy cows, raised in Sao Do of Moc Chau Farm. Thus, in total, there were more than 1,000 valuable breeding cows that Cuba had aided. If now 1,000 breeding cows is normal if you have money, but at that time, not only our country but also yours was under embargo. So you had to find a way to buy "them" from Canada and then ship them to Hai Phong . Set up a modern breeding farm (quarantine, check for diseases and then vaccinate) and then bring them to Moc Chau.
Ho Toan Dairy Company regularly sponsors milk to schools in disadvantaged areas. |
President Fidel Castro himself directed the selection of cow breeds, technology transfer, provision of the best equipment in the world at that time and the construction of 10 complete cow farms, 1 calf farm and milking farms in Moc Chau. Currently, after more than fifty years, the cow farms that you brought experts to build in Moc Chau plateau still have intact walls, beams, columns and roofs that stand the test of time, just like the steadfast love between you and me.
Fidel wants to contribute to building the dairy industry in Vietnam so that Vietnamese people will soon have enough cow's milk to improve their nutrition.
From the precious herd of cows gifted by Cuba, from the transfer of technology and training of human resources in both Cuba and Vietnam, Moc Chau has now become the “capital” of dairy cows. From dairy products, farmers in Moc Chau Farm have escaped poverty and many have become billionaires!
Previously, Cuba also built and developed Ba Vi dairy farm and Phu Dong dairy farm. Foreign experts helped train and transfer local techniques as well as bring engineers to the foreign country to train in veterinary medicine, nutrition, care, breeding, etc.

My father, a student of the 11th class of veterinary medicine at Ho Xe Mac Ty University (now Agricultural Academy 1) in 1970, was also trained by Cuban experts in disease diagnosis at the Tan Dao dairy farm in Hai Phong and Phu Dong farm. After more than half a century, every time I come back, he still recalls the kindness of the Cuban experts.
This morning, before going to "herd cows", the sisters of Ho Toan company discussed around a pot of morning tea: "As for money, in response to the government's call, we will each contribute a little, but if the government calls, we are ready to help you rebuild the dairy farming industry."
That's right, the love of Cuba and the love of the dairy industry, our brothers and sisters are always ready. Hope you have less difficulties, revive domestic agricultural production to:
"Dear, Cuba is as sweet as sugar.
Green sugarcane fields, green hills
Delicious oranges, sweet yellow mangoes from the farm
"The bee lost on the flower path, bustling in all directions".
