Actual inspection shows that in recent days, widespread heavy rain combined with flood control in the upstream has caused the Lo River to rise rapidly, creating great pressure on the dyke system, drainage culverts and irrigation works. Without proactive and regular monitoring, the risk of an incident is very high.

The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee directly inspected points at risk of landslides and cracks; the water supply and drainage system; and listened to reports from local authorities and specialized units on the operation and management of the dike system at present.

He emphasized: The task of managing and protecting dykes is extremely important, directly related to the safety of people's lives and property. Therefore, we must not be subjective or negligent, especially in the context of complicated weather conditions, heavy rains that can last for a long time, posing the risk of landslides and flooding at any time.

He requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to closely coordinate with local authorities to deploy urgent measures to protect dikes; organize 24/7 duty at key locations to promptly handle incidents when they arise. In addition, it is necessary to strengthen inspection, grasp the water level situation, proactively plan to regulate and operate sewer systems, pumping stations, and irrigation works, ensure timely drainage, and minimize the risk of flooding.

Comrade Ma The Hong also noted that localities need to do a good job of propaganda and mobilization of people to raise awareness of dyke protection; resolutely and strictly handle violations such as illegal construction, gathering materials along the dyke corridor, affecting flood drainage capacity. Local authorities must regularly inspect, review, promptly detect and correct violations as soon as they arise, to avoid them lasting.

He emphasized: Departments, branches and localities must consider dike protection as a key political task in the current flood season. The clear assignment of responsibilities, enhanced coordination and promotion of the sense of responsibility of grassroots cadres will be decisive factors to ensure the safety of the entire dike system of the province.
Through the inspection, the working group also acknowledged the efforts and proactiveness of the localities in being on duty and monitoring the situation, which initially limited the damage. However, comrade Ma The Hong requested that the units not be subjective, but continue to tighten discipline, promote the sense of responsibility, and ensure absolute safety for the Lo River dike as well as the lives of the people living along the river.
