Due to the impact of storm No. 10, in recent days, Son La province has had moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms causing flooding and landslides in some localities.

National Highway 6, passing through Moc Chau Ward, was also flooded on September 29. Heavy rain caused water from the hillsides to pour down onto the road, making it difficult for vehicles to move.

Many roads in the center of Moc Chau farm town were heavily flooded, causing many tourists planning to travel to Moc Chau in the coming days to feel worried.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu (a resident of Moc Chau) said that on the road near Moc Chau walking street, there was a section of water that was 50cm high. The water flowed very strongly, at many intersections, people driving motorbikes had to stay in one place and did not dare to go through.

At many times, kind truck drivers had to stop to block the water flow and help people cross the road. Authorities and traffic police were also deployed to assist people.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy (living on Le Thanh Nghi Street) said that many houses along rivers and streams, in places with steep terrain, water flooded in, reaching 20-30cm high to the edge of the wall. Some motels and hotels were also affected.

According to travel agencies, many tourist groups have proactively canceled or postponed their departures to Moc Chau, waiting for favorable weather. Some tourists staying in Moc Chau farm town have also limited their movements, waiting for stable travel conditions before continuing their tours.

Ms. Lan Phuong (tourist from Hanoi ) said: "We booked a tour to Dai Yem waterfall and heart-shaped tea hill, but it rained so hard that we had to postpone it. Although it's a pity, safety is still the top priority."

Mr. Minh Hoang (HCMC) shared: “This is my first time coming to Moc Chau, but the rain and wind have disrupted my schedule. I hope the weather clears up soon so I can fully experience the beautiful scenery here. The roads are no longer flooded like yesterday, but I am still staying at the hotel temporarily to ensure safety.”

According to Mr. Quang Kien - a local tour guide - as soon as news of the storm came, many tourist groups texted tour guides and representatives of accommodation areas to ask to postpone their trips and change their tour schedules.

“Many roads are flooded, some have landslides, making it difficult to travel, so we advise guests to rearrange their schedules because even if they go to Moc Chau on rainy days, they won’t be able to go anywhere,” said Mr. Kien.

Speaking to Dan Tri newspaper reporter, Mr. Tran Xuan Viet - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Son La province - said that due to the impact of storms and rains, some roads, tourist areas and sightseeing spots were partially flooded, but the water then receded quickly and today, it is basically dry.

"There was a landslide in the Van Ho area but it has been fixed and the road is open," said Mr. Viet.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Son La province said that the Department's units closely monitor the situation of rain and storms to implement the directives of Son La province to deploy plans for natural disaster prevention, control, and rescue according to their assigned functions, tasks and authority.

The unit also recommends that people and tourists in areas at risk of landslides and affected by rain and storms should pay attention to safety, and advise people and tourists not to travel through mountain passes and streams during heavy rain. Tourist areas and spots should arrange to receive guests appropriately during rain and storm periods.

According to Mr. Viet, the peak tourist season in Moc Chau is still about half a month away, so there are not too many visitors to this area yet. In addition, tourists are also very concerned about storm information, so they have proactively postponed or canceled tours to ensure safety.
