(CLO) As the second era of US President-elect Donald Trump is approaching, the race for key positions in the upcoming White House has begun.

In an early announcement on November 7, Mr. Trump announced that the person helping him manage the White House office would be Ms. Susie Wiles, the strategist who managed his election campaign.

Here are others who could join the next Trump administration:

As his running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance is a staunch supporter of Mr Trump's "America First" agenda, a fierce critic of Mr Biden's foreign policy and would bring a populist stance to the Oval Office.

Robert F Kennedy Jr - Presidential candidate, environmental lawyer

Former Democrat Robert F Kennedy Jr ran as an independent candidate for president in this election, before ending his campaign to support Mr Trump.

If appointed, Mr. Kennedy said he would push for "a recommendation that all American water systems remove fluoride from public water."

Vivek Ramaswamy - Biotech Entrepreneur

Vivek Ramaswamy, a businessman-turned -politician , made a name for himself in the 2024 Republican primary with his anti-woke, government reform agenda.

Mr. Ramaswamy, a fierce critic of Big Tech censorship and bureaucratic overreach, could take a role in the Commerce Department or a tech-focused position, pushing for policies that challenge Silicon Valley and bolster free speech.

Senator Marco Rubio

Senator Marco Rubio has been sharply critical of President Biden's stance on national security and foreign policy.

With his experience in foreign affairs positions, Mr. Rubio is a strong candidate for secretary of state or another foreign policy role. He aligns closely with Mr. Trump’s emphasis on prioritizing American interests.

Elon Musk - CEO of Tesla, SpaceX

Elon Musk was a key factor in Mr. Trump's decisive victory at the polls. Musk endorsed Mr. Trump shortly after the assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Days before Mr Trump was returned to the White House, the Tesla CEO pledged to reform the federal government as “the secretary of cost cutting” if given a cabinet position. However, Musk may be better suited to an oversight role, rather than a position like energy secretary, which would involve congressional confirmation hearings.

Doug Burgum - Governor of North Dakota

Mr. Burgum’s experience managing North Dakota’s natural resources makes him a good candidate for interior secretary. He would likely focus on balancing energy development with conservation efforts, overseeing public lands and implementing policies that support both economic growth and environmental stewardship.

John Ratcliffe - Former Director of National Intelligence

John Ratcliffe, who served as director of national intelligence under Mr. Trump, is a trusted ally with extensive experience in intelligence and cybersecurity.

Known for his loyalty to Mr. Trump and his expertise in “counterterrorism,” Mr. Ratcliffe could continue in a similar role, focusing on cybersecurity threats and intelligence reform. His reappointment would signal continuity in Mr. Trump’s approach to national security and information integrity.
