Located in a small alley on Nguyen Van Troi Street, Block 1, Dien Ban Ward ( Da Nang City), the house of Mr. Nguyen Van Nga (born in 1970) and his wife Pham Thi Yen Linh (born in 1978) has nothing valuable except two motorbikes for the disabled and the academic achievement certificates of their two sons stuck to a corner of the wall.

Mr. Nguyen Van Nga said that since childhood, his legs were atrophied after a bout of polio. His life seemed to be buried in suffering and self-pity, but he still tried to rise up and did not surrender to fate.

In 2002, during a treatment at the Danang Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Center, fate brought him to meet Ms. Pham Thi Yen Linh, who also had a leg atrophy disability, from Quang Ngai . Sharing the same situation and sharing, in 2004 they got married and two sons, Nguyen Thanh Danh (2005) and Nguyen Thanh Tai (2007), were born.

In 2023, Nguyen Thanh Danh was admitted to Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, majoring in Construction Engineering. While looking at their child's happiness, the couple was worried about the tuition and accommodation for the next 5 years.

After a few days of thinking, the couple decided to take out a bank loan on the house title deed left by their parents so that their son could pursue his dream of studying. This year, the youngest son, Nguyen Thanh Tai, was admitted to the University of Technology - Danang University, majoring in Semiconductor Technology, and their worries became even more serious.

Mr. Nguyen Van Nga said that Nguyen Thanh Danh's education in Ho Chi Minh City is very expensive. In addition to the annual tuition of 40 million VND (increased to 46 million VND in year 3), every month he and his wife have to send an additional 3 million VND to their child to cover food and accommodation. Thanh Danh has to work extra to cover other expenses.

Similarly, Nguyen Thanh Tai's younger brother's tuition fee in Da Nang is also 40 million VND per year, and the monthly living expenses alone are another 2 million VND, so his family's situation is extremely difficult.

Previously, Mr. Nga rented a kiosk selling music CDs in front of Vinh Dien market, but since the internet appeared, business has been sluggish, so he had to switch to selling household electrical appliances, but it has also been sluggish.

During this time, Ms. Pham Thi Yen Linh stayed home to take care of two neighbor children and earned 3 million VND per month. In addition, Mr. Nga and his wife received 1.26 million VND in social assistance from the state for the disabled every month. All their income was just included in that, so their already poor life became even more difficult.

Worryingly, in recent years the health of both husband and wife has continuously declined. Mrs. Linh has also suffered from bone and joint disease, causing pain all night and unable to do heavy work, while Mr. Nga's limbs have contracted, making it even more difficult for him to walk.

“My wife and I hope that kind-hearted people will help our family to have the conditions to send our children to school, get a degree, graduate and find a job to support themselves so that in the future they will not have to suffer like their parents,” said Mr. Nga.

Faced with the particularly difficult circumstances of the families of Mr. Nguyen Van Nga and Mrs. Pham Thi Yen Linh, Da Nang Newspaper hopes that philanthropists will join hands to contribute and help share some of the living and studying expenses for the two children Nguyen Thanh Danh and Nguyen Thanh Tai.

The community's support and sharing not only motivates Mr. Nguyen Van Nga's family but also contributes to sowing faith, hope, and cultivating a bright future for future generations.
