Each shelter built and each house renovated not only provides a material support for people to stabilize their lives but also conveys the soldiers' affection, contributing to building a solid "people's hearts and minds".

Colonel Phan Quyet Thang, Deputy Political Commissar of Thai Nguyen Provincial Military Command, said: “Helping people eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses is not only a duty but also an order from the hearts of soldiers. Therefore, the Provincial Military Command has directed forces to actively participate in the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the area to ensure effectiveness, on schedule, and absolute safety, contributing to helping people settle down and feel secure in their work and production.”

Leaders of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Military Command presented gifts to people who received support to remove temporary and dilapidated houses in Bang Thanh commune, Thai Nguyen province.

Recently, in remote communes in the North of Thai Nguyen province such as Na Phac, Nghien Loan..., nearly 200 officers and soldiers of the provincial armed forces have worked side by side with local militia, union members and youth to support people in repairing and building new solid houses. The image of officers and soldiers with sweaty shirts, mixing mortar and carrying bricks has become familiar to the people. Private Au Dinh Manh, a soldier of Battalion 1, Regiment 750, Thai Nguyen Provincial Military Command, said: "Although the weather is erratic and the work is hard, we are all very happy to contribute a small part of our efforts so that people can have solid homes. Seeing the houses gradually completed and the bright eyes of the people is the greatest reward for a soldier."

Comrade Tran Thi May, Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Secretary of the Na Phac Commune Youth Union, excitedly said: "The emulation movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses has always received attention from the locality. In particular, the active support from the Provincial Military Command, Regiment 750 and the participation of the commune's youth union members have created community strength, helping disadvantaged households have stable housing conditions and peace of mind to develop the economy ."

The family of Mr. Hau Van U in May Van village, Na Phac commune is one of the families eligible for the policy to be approved to build a new house. The joy of settling down made Mr. U emotional: “Before, my whole family had to live in a dilapidated, leaky house. Every rainy season, we were always worried that the house would collapse. Thanks to the support of the Party and the State, the army and the local government helping with construction work, the house is almost finished, so I am very happy, and I sleep better at night.”

According to statistics, up to now, in Thai Nguyen province, 100% of households have completed repairs and new construction, exceeding the assigned progress. In addition, with the highest determination of the entire political system, the consensus and joint efforts of businesses and people in the area, Thai Nguyen province has supported funding to build 453 additional houses outside the approved list, reaching 106.5% of the plan. Each completed house is a vivid proof of the consensus between the army and people in the journey of hunger eradication, poverty reduction, and new rural construction.
