After the administrative boundary merger, the Can Tho City Labor Federation quickly consolidated its organization and stabilized its operating apparatus for effective and efficient operations. As a representative organization, caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers, the city's labor unions at all levels constantly innovated the content and methods of operation, and implemented many practical solutions to care for union members and workers.

The family of Ms. Le Thi Mong The in Truong Dong B hamlet, Phong Dien commune has just been awarded a spacious Trade Union Shelter. A teacher at Nhon Ai Secondary School, a single mother of a young child, Ms. The confided: “For many years, my daughter and I have lived with relatives and have not been able to build a house. I am very excited to receive support from the City Labor Federation, helping my family to have conditions to settle down and stabilize their lives.”

Since the beginning of 2025, Can Tho City's Trade Unions at all levels have supported the construction of 141 Trade Union Shelters for workers with a total support amount of over 6.63 billion VND. Along with supporting housing construction, trade unions at all levels have implemented many practical activities to care for the lives of union members and workers in difficult circumstances. Notably, Minh Phu - Hau Giang Seafood Joint Stock Company has built a Mutual Support Fund, supporting billions of VND for union members and workers to borrow interest-free. Ms. Chu Nu Huyen Trang, Chairwoman of the Company's Grassroots Trade Union, said: "The Mutual Support Fund originated from Minh Phu Seafood Corporation in Ca Mau many years ago. In Can Tho City, the fund was established about 4 years ago, mobilizing contributions from staff, workers and partners. Accordingly, employees and workers in difficult circumstances are entitled to interest-free loans of 10 million VND/person. To date, this fund has supported over 4.7 billion VND for 474 employees and workers at the Company."

Lac Ty II Company Limited also maintains the effective operation of the "Love" Fund, giving thousands of gifts to union members and employees in difficult circumstances and with occupational diseases. The Company's Trade Union maintains organizing regular employee conferences and dialogues; giving gifts to union members whose children have serious illnesses. At the same time, organizes union meal programs, sports events... to create a healthy and joyful playground for union members and employees.

Mr. Dinh Hoang Huy, an employee of the Electromechanical Technology Department, Tay Do Garment Joint Stock Company, shared that the City Labor Federation and the Company's Trade Union always care about the lives of union members and workers through many practical activities: organizing union meals, building union shelters... Workers enjoy benefits and policies in accordance with regulations. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Company has implemented many policies to support workers to overcome difficulties.

According to the leader of the Can Tho City Labor Federation, currently, the number of union members and workers in industrial parks and enterprises in the city has increased, leading to a significant increase in the demand for jobs, income, housing, health care, and social welfare. In the face of this reality, the Can Tho City Labor Federation has determined that caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers is the core and continuous task of the trade union organization.

The City Labor Confederation proactively grasps the thoughts, aspirations, and lives of workers, especially in industrial parks, non-state enterprises, and workers in the informal sector; directs and guides grassroots unions to proactively propose to business owners to negotiate and sign to improve the quality of collective labor agreements... Up to now, the whole city has 432 enterprises signing collective labor agreements with many contents and provisions that are more beneficial to workers than those prescribed by law, such as: wages, bonuses, allowances, subsidies, shift meals, holidays, annual leave higher than prescribed...

In addition, the City Labor Federation is interested in guiding, inspecting and supervising the implementation of labor laws in enterprises; strengthening labor law consultancy activities, providing legal support at grassroots unions; receiving and consulting 20 cases of unilateral termination of labor contracts, unpaid wages, and regimes related to severance pay... Dialogue and meeting activities between the leaders of the City Labor Federation and grassroots unions of enterprises have been promoted, creating a practical forum to listen, understand and promptly resolve the legitimate thoughts and aspirations of union members and workers. From July 2025 to present, the City Labor Federation has established a delegation to visit and work with 14 affiliated grassroots unions; organized 4 programs to meet with grassroots union officials of enterprises.

According to Ms. Le Thi Suong Mai, Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City, Chairman of the Can Tho City Labor Confederation, the city's trade unions at all levels will continue to promote propaganda work; perform better the function of representing and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers; improve the quality of negotiation, signing and effective implementation of collective labor agreements. Continue to maintain and improve the effectiveness of patriotic emulation movements; focusing on the emulation movements "Good workers", "Creative workers"...

In particular, on the eve of the 1st Congress of Can Tho City Party Committee, term 2025-2030, trade unions and employees at all levels have placed great trust and expectations in strong and breakthrough decisions to take good care of and create conditions for employees to devote themselves, contributing to the development of agencies and units.

Mr. Dinh Hoang Huy, an employee of the Electromechanical Technology Department, Tay Do Garment Joint Stock Company, confided: “I hope that the Party Committees and the authorities of Can Tho City will pay more attention and care to the issues of housing, wages, income, social welfare, job security, and creating a safe working environment for workers. At the same time, Can Tho City will have policies and solutions to actively support businesses in digital transformation, applying technology and automation to increase productivity, improve working conditions and ensure workers' health.”
