The circulation of storm Matmo has caused unprecedented flooding in Thai Nguyen in recent days. According to preliminary statistics as of the morning of October 9, more than 200,000 houses were flooded in 45-50 communes and wards in more than 40 localities. The total damage in the province is estimated at over 3,000 billion VND.

As people struggle to cope with natural disasters, Vietnamese artists have quickly joined hands to support. In just the past 48 hours, a series of big names have posted pictures of donations dedicated to the people of Thai Nguyen.

On the morning of October 9, singer My Tam transferred 200 million VND to the Fatherland Front Committee of Thai Nguyen province, along with a message of encouragement for people to overcome difficulties. At the same time, singer Ho Ngoc Ha and her management company donated 100 million VND, while singer Quoc Thien and his team contributed 200 million VND from recent event revenue.

Miss Yen Nhi (Miss Grand Vietnam 2025), Thuan Nguyen and Diep Lam Anh each donated 50 million VND. Singer Jee Tran donated a total of 80 million VND to the North, of which 30 million VND was specifically for Thai Nguyen. Artists from Kim Entertainment (Miu Le, Truc Nhan...) also donated 50 million VND.

The Secret Garden Live in Vietnam concert organizers announced that all ticket sales will be used to support people in need.

MC Duc Bao and singer Hai Yen called for donations but did not disclose the amount. Singer Luong Gia Huy said he would personally go to the flooded areas to support people in his hometown. Meritorious Artist Viet Anh planned to bring 600kg of dry food and 200 barrels of water to support people on October 10 with his friends.

Previously, MC Tran Thanh and his wife Hari Won donated 200 million VND, while singers Hoa Minzy, Duc Phuc, Erik, and singer Kieu Anh each donated 100 million VND. Artists such as Bui Cong Nam and Huynh Lap also participated with donations of 50 million VND.

On the evening of October 8, People's Artist Quoc Hung and his wife - artist Thu Quyen - transported relief goods by truck to Thai Nguyen, carrying 500 barrels of clean water, instant noodles, sausages, milk, life jackets, flashlights and hundreds of packages of cakes - in just 3 hours of preparation.

The total value of donations from artists to Thai Nguyen after storm Matmo is estimated to have reached billions of VND in less than 48 hours, not to mention direct relief shipments. These acts of kindness not only have material value but are also a great source of spiritual encouragement for people in flooded areas.

With more super typhoons predicted to hit in 2025, the artists’ community’s collaboration will not only provide relief but also raise awareness about natural disaster prevention. Thai Nguyen provincial authorities said they will prioritize allocating resources for reconstruction while calling for more support from the whole society.
