At the hospital, doctors discovered the patient had a large tumor in the pelvic area, diagnosed as a large ovarian tumor.
Doctor Dinh Huu Hoa, Head of the Oncology Department, Quang Ngai General Hospital 2, said that because the tumor had grown too large, after consultation, the team decided to perform surgery to remove the tumor.
The surgery lasted for several hours, and the doctors successfully separated the tumor from the colon and ovary. The tumor measured 20-35cm and weighed 5.5kg. After the surgery, the patient's health was stable and he was recovering well.
According to Dr. Hoa, ovarian cysts are common in older women, but can still appear in young people. Doctors recommend that women with unusual signs such as abdominal pain, rapid abdominal enlargement or pressure causing constipation, urinary retention, etc. should go to the doctor early for timely diagnosis and treatment.
