Dedicated female Women's Union officer brings policy capital to the people

In Hamlet 1, Tuyen Binh Commune, Tay Ninh Province, almost everyone knows Ms. Nguyen Thi Danh - Head of the Women's Union (WU) of the hamlet, Head of the Savings and Loan Group (TK&VV) of the hamlet. For more than 10 years, this determined woman has become a "support" for dozens of poor and near-poor households and other policy beneficiaries in the area. Her dedication, enthusiasm and wholeheartedness for the poor have helped Ms. Danh leave a special mark in the hearts of the people here.

Dedicated to work

For more than 10 years accompanying the Women's Union of Tuyen Binh Commune and the Transaction Office of the Social Policy Bank (SPB) of Tan Hung, Ms. Danh has promoted a sense of responsibility, always being active, enthusiastic, and close to the people. From the approval, supervision to urging the implementation of commitments with the bank, she has always worked closely and transparently.

Up to now, the Savings and Credit Group managed by Ms. Danh has 46 members with a total outstanding debt of more than 4.3 billion VND. This capital includes many programs: loans for households escaping poverty, near-poor households, job creation, student loans, etc. For many years, the group has had no overdue debt and no outstanding interest.

“I always think of myself as a bridge between the VBSP and the people. If preferential capital goes to the right people and for the right purpose, it will help them escape poverty faster. Therefore, I always follow up with each borrower, regularly reminding them to pay interest and repay debts on time so that the capital can circulate effectively,” Ms. Danh shared.

The preferential capital managed by Ms. Danh is not only "capital" but also "trust" - a lever that helps many PN members boldly invest, choose suitable production models, change their lives, and gradually escape poverty.

A typical example in Hamlet 1 is Ms. Tran Thi Be, who was formerly a near-poor household. Her husband and she had to work for hire, with unstable incomes, and their lives were "short of money". With the support of the Women's Union of Tuyen Binh Commune, she was granted a loan of 100 million VND from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies to invest in breeding cows. After a year, Ms. Be escaped the near-poor household status and her life gradually stabilized.

She shared: “Thanks to preferential capital from the Social Policy Bank, I had the opportunity to invest in breeding cows. After only one year, the cows grew well, bringing a stable income to the family. Now that I have been recognized as a near-poor household, I am truly moved. This is the belief and motivation for my family to continue to rise up.”

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Uyen also started with a policy credit loan of 40 million VND, investing in a straw mushroom growing model. After more than a year, her family's monthly income is now about 20 million VND from mushroom harvesting, a figure she had never thought of before.

“Thanks to preferential capital, my family's life has changed significantly. I have the conditions to take care of my children's education, renovate the house, and most importantly, I have more determination and confidence to do business and take control of my life,” Ms. Uyen shared.

Ms. Tran Thi Be (residing in Hamlet 1, Tuyen Binh Commune) strives to do business after escaping near-poverty thanks to a loan from the Social Policy Bank.

What makes Ms. Danh unique is her dedication in every step of her work. Every month, one day before each transaction, she visits each household to collect interest and savings. This seemingly small task helps members reduce time and effort in traveling, while also creating habits and financial discipline, contributing to improving the efficiency of loan use.

In addition, Ms. Danh also enthusiastically introduced to women typical examples and effective production and business models in the area. Thanks to that, many women's households have confidently started their own businesses and escaped poverty sustainably.

Every month, at the fixed transaction point in the commune, Ms. Danh participates in training with the bank, promptly grasps new policies, disseminates them to the people and quickly reflects on difficulties and problems to find solutions together."

Ms. Nguyen Thi Danh is also an exemplary, enthusiastic and active Branch President in all local movements. Among them, the outstanding models of mutual assistance, which she has promoted for many years, typically the Piggy Bank Fund Raising Campaign to help disabled women and poor students in the area, spreading the spirit of "mutual love and support".

She and her family are exemplary in participating in movements to build a cultural life and build new rural areas. She confided: “My greatest joy is seeing members’ families stabilize their lives and their children receive a good education. That gives me more motivation to continue this work.”
