In the early morning of October 18 (Vietnam time), the boxing match between two female boxers Chloe Watson and Shannon Ryan took place at York Hall, Bethnal Green (England). This confrontation had to stop halfway after Watson suffered a serious eye injury due to a head collision with her opponent.
The incident happened in the fourth round, when two boxers accidentally headbutted each other in close combat. The 25-year-old female boxer was the one who suffered the most damage, her right eye was swollen and bruised after only a few seconds.
Doctors were immediately called into the ring to check on Watson. After consultation, the referee decided to stop the fight because of concerns that the injury could cause permanent damage to Watson's eyesight.
This decision resulted in the fight being abandoned, bringing a regrettable end to the British boxer. Many spectators at the ring expressed sympathy, as Watson had entered the fight with great vigor and fought evenly with Ryan in the first three rounds.
