On the evening of October 21, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Pasteur Network 2025 Annual Conference (PNAM) was officially opened and will take place until October 24 with a series of academic and practical activities, with presentations, workshops and discussions.

The conference brings together leaders, researchers and experts in the field of public health from across the Pasteur network and beyond, creating a platform to work together to address today's most pressing global health challenges.

Sharing online at the conference, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan affirmed that with the important role of the Pasteur Institute system worldwide, Vietnam has made positive contributions through the development of Pasteur Institutes in the country.

Currently, our country has Pasteur Institutes located in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Nha Trang. These institutes have made many important contributions and advice to the health sector, the Party and the State in implementing solutions to protect and improve people's health.

At the same time, Pasteur Institutes in Vietnam also actively participate in common activities of the global Pasteur Institute system, contributing to promoting cooperation in scientific research, specialized training and development of preventive medicine.

"We have gone through many challenges, of which the COVID-19 pandemic is the clearest demonstration of the important role of the preventive healthcare system, and at the same time shows the great contributions of Pasteur Institutes in epidemic prevention and control of emerging, re-emerging, and vector-borne diseases...", Ms. Lan said.

She expressed her hope that the conference will achieve many important results, open up more opportunities for research cooperation and continue to contribute to the development of the field of preventive medicine in the coming time.

“From the viewpoint of the Party and Government of Vietnam, disease prevention is always identified as a key task that must take the lead in taking care of people’s health. We expect that the results and new approaches shared at the conference will bring many practical values,” Minister Dao Hong Lan emphasized.

Mr. Nguyen Vu Trung, Director of the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City, said that the institute played a pioneering role in a number of landmark achievements, including: discovering Vietnam's first HIV infection case, sequencing the genomes of dangerous pathogens such as H5N1, EV71, SARS-CoV-2 and monkeypox virus.

Beyond disease research, the institute helps design disease prevention systems, build diagnostic infrastructure, train future health professionals, and develop surveillance models to guide public health decisions.

According to Mr. Trung, the conference is not only about science, but also about building relationships, exchanging ideas and working together towards a healthier future.

This year, the Pasteur Institute in Ho Chi Minh City is proud to honor young scientists whose energy and creativity are helping to shape a new chapter for global health.

40 young researchers under 40 years old from the Pasteur network will be honored.

The Pasteur Network 2025 Annual Meeting (PNAM) focuses on key topics such as disease prevention, climate-sensitive diseases and equitable health research, promising to advance solutions for global public health.

There will also be discussions on vaccine production, community engagement in research and gender equality in science.

An important event of PNAM 2025 is the “40 Under 40” program, honoring 40 young researchers under 40 years old from the Pasteur network.

These young scientists will chair six plenary sessions, showcasing their contributions to infectious disease research, public health innovation and global collaboration.

The Pasteur Network, comprising more than 30 research institutes in more than 25 countries on five continents, is a global scientific alliance that contributes to solving health challenges through research, innovation and public health.

Recognized by the World Health Organization as a non-governmental organization, the network maintains an extensive scientific infrastructure with more than 50 reference laboratories, several biosafety level 3 rooms, and 17 WHO collaborating centers.
