The Party Central Committee, the National Assembly , the President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the family have issued a statement on the funeral of former Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers Tran Phuong.
After a period of serious illness, despite the devoted care and treatment of the Party, the State, a group of professors, doctors and his family, due to old age and poor health, former Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers Tran Phuong passed away at 6:02 a.m. on October 18 at the 108 Central Military Hospital, at the age of 98.
Former Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers Tran Phuong (birth name Vu Van Dung) was born in 1927; hometown Xuan Duc Commune, My Hao District, Hung Yen Province (now Duong Hao Ward, Hung Yen Province).
He participated in revolutionary activities in September 1943; joined the Party in September 1945. He was an alternate member of the Party Central Committee, term IV; member of the Party Central Committee, term V; Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers (now Deputy Prime Minister); Minister of Domestic Trade (now Ministry of Industry and Trade ); Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Commission; delegate of the National Assembly, term VII.
During 80 years of revolutionary activities, he had many achievements contributing to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
He was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Medal by the Party and State; the 80-year Party membership badge and many other noble medals and orders.
To express condolences and acknowledge the achievements and contributions of former Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers Tran Phuong, the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front decided to hold his funeral with state funeral rites.
The Party Central Committee Secretariat has decided to establish a 27-member State Funeral Committee, headed by Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh.
The coffin of former Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers Tran Phuong lies at the National Funeral Home, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi.
The visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on October 24. The memorial service will be from 12:00 p.m. on October 24. The burial will be from 1:00 p.m. on the same day at the hometown cemetery, Xuan Duc commune, My Hao district, Hung Yen province (now Duong Hao ward, Hung Yen province).
