Biden celebrates his birthday with a fiery cake

“Turns out you run out of candles on your 146th birthday!” Biden joked in a post that included a photo of a cake decorated with dozens of candles. The candles were arranged so close together that they formed a circle of flames that viewers commented on.

“Does the Secret Service have a fire department?” one commenter joked.

"The baker could have made the cake bigger to give the candles some breathing room," another wrote.

Mr Biden has made several jokes about his age in recent weeks, amid growing concerns about the US president's age reflected in recent voter polls.

The 46th US President spent his birthday on November 20 pardoning Thanksgiving turkeys at the White House. During the birthday celebration, Mr. Biden joked that he was only 60 years old.

"I just want you to know that it's hard turning 60. It's hard," he said at the ceremony.

Mr. Biden also joked about comparing the 76th anniversary of the White House turkey pardon tradition to his age.

"I want you to know that I was not present at the first pardon ceremony. I was too young," he said.

President and First Lady Jill Biden plan to travel to Nantucket, Massachusetts, on November 21 to celebrate Mr. Biden’s birthday with his family. The most powerful couple in America will stay on the island through the Thanksgiving holiday.
