Mr. Nguyen Van Kien was elected to hold the position of Chairman of Hai Duong City People's Committee.

On the morning of October 8, Hai Duong City Party Committee held a conference to announce the decision of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee on personnel work for the Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee.

According to the decision, Mr. Nguyen Van Kien, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Chi Linh City was transferred to work at the Hai Duong City Party Committee from October 8, appointed to participate in the City Party Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Hai Duong City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term, introduced to the City People's Council to elect him as Chairman of the Hai Duong City People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.

Speaking at the conference, Hai Duong Provincial Party Secretary Tran Duc Thang acknowledged and commended the contributions of Mr. Tran Ho Dang, former Chairman of Hai Duong City People's Committee and Mr. Nguyen Van Kien to the development of Hai Duong City and Chi Linh.

Mr. Nguyen Van Kien holds the position of Chairman of Hai Duong City for the 2021 - 2026 term.

In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman of the Hai Duong City People's Committee expressed his honor and sincere thanks to the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee for entrusting him with the task. At the same time, he affirmed that he will continue to humbly learn, be dedicated to his work, and promote all his efforts, intelligence, and determination together with the Standing Committee, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, and the Hai Duong City Party Committee to successfully complete the task, further enhancing the achievements that Hai Duong City has achieved in recent years.

On the same day, at the thematic session, the People's Council of Hai Duong City dismissed Mr. Tran Ho Dang from the position of Chairman of the City People's Committee and dismissed him from the position of Hai Duong City People's Council delegate for the 2021-2026 term due to job transfer; elected comrade Nguyen Van Kien, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, to hold the position of Chairman of the Hai Duong City People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term with 100% of the votes.

Also on the morning of October 8, the People's Council of Chi Linh City held a thematic meeting, dismissed the position of Chairman of the City People's Committee and dismissed the duties of People's Council delegate of Chi Linh City, term 2021-2026 for comrade Nguyen Van Kien; at the same time, announced the decision of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to assign the position of Chairman of the People's Committee of Chi Linh City to comrade Nguyen Van Huynh, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Chi Linh City from October 8, 2024 until the position of Chairman of the People's Committee of the City for the term 2021-2026 is completed.

Previously, on the afternoon of October 4, at the 29th Session, the Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee elected Mr. Tran Ho Dang, Chairman of Hai Duong City People's Committee, to hold the position of Deputy Chairman of the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee for the 17th term, 2020-2025 term with an absolute number of votes.
