According to The Times of Israel , Sara Netanyahu has been in Miami, Florida, for the past few weeks to visit her son, Yair Netanyahu. Trump has long worked to build a good relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's family. In July, Prime Minister Netanyahu and his wife met with Trump. At that meeting, Trump joked that Sara was his "secret weapon." "As long as I have Sara, that's all that matters," Trump said.

The meeting between Trump and Sara comes as diplomats are trying to end the Gaza conflict. Hamas leaders held talks with Egyptian security officials on December 1 to try to end the conflict in Gaza. The trip to Cairo by Hamas leaders is the first since the US announced it would revive efforts to cooperate with Qatar, Egypt and Turkey to negotiate a ceasefire in Gaza, including a hostage deal.

"Hamas is isolated. Hezbollah is no longer fighting with them, and their supporters in Iran and elsewhere are preoccupied with other conflicts. So I think we may have an opportunity to make progress, but I wouldn't predict exactly when that will happen, we've come very close many times and we haven't reached the finish line," Sullivan told CNN on December 1.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said on December 1 that there are some signs of progress on the hostage return agreement, while affirming that Israel's conditions for ending the hostilities remain unchanged.
