On October 7, Mr. Le Minh Tien, Head of the Food Safety Department of the Quang Tri Department of Health , said that the unit had just received test results from the Provincial Center for Disease Control and Nha Trang Pasteur Institute on samples related to the suspected food poisoning incident that occurred on September 26 at Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, Kim Ngan Commune, Quang Tri Province.

Accordingly, test results from the provincial Center for Disease Control and Nha Trang Pasteur Institute detected Bacillus cereus bacteria that produce NHE toxin in 1 sample of braised pomfret meat and 1 sample of a student. The remaining food samples and samples did not detect disease-causing bacteria.
Previously, as reported by CAND Newspaper, on the morning of September 26, 40 students of Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School showed symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain, suspected to be caused by food poisoning. They were taken to Le Thuy General Hospital for treatment, and were later discharged.

After the incident, many parents protested against Vice Principal Do Thi Hong Hue , because they thought that Ms. Hue was the person directly in charge of the school's lunch meals, and did not promptly hospitalize the students when they showed symptoms of poisoning; and was also irresponsible in managing the kitchen... Currently, the local government is verifying and temporarily suspending Ms. Do Thi Hong Hue from work for 15 days.
