Previously, at 3:45 p.m. on October 7, the Thuan An Port Border Guard Station received a report from the Thua Thien Hue Maritime Port Authority that fishing boat TTH-96329-TS with 4 crew members, led by Mr. Phan Luy (born in 1970; registered residence: Hai Tien Residential Group, Thuan An Ward, Hue City, ship owner and captain), when reaching coordinates 16º43'45”N; longitude: 107 º37'11”E, collided with cargo ship Thuan Trung 08 on its journey in the South - North direction.

As a result, fishing boat TTH-96329-TS sank. 3 crew members of fishing boat TTH 96329-TS were rescued by ship Thuan Trung 08 and brought aboard. 1 crew member (Mr. Ngo Thai, born in 1971, registered residence: Hai Tien TDP, Thuan An ward) is missing.

The unit sent officers to coordinate with the Thua Thien Hue Maritime Security ship to the location of the ship in distress to search and rescue. By 7:30 p.m. on October 7, the Border Guard Squadron 2 ship had safely brought the 3 crew members in distress to the Border Control Station, Thuan An Port Border Guard Station, and conducted medical care. After medical care for the 3 crew members in distress, their health is now basically stable and they have been handed over to their relatives.

Border guards are continuing to mobilize ships and coordinate with other forces to search for missing victims.
