4.9 magnitude earthquake in Quang Ngai causes tremors in many localities

The 4.9 magnitude earthquake occurred in Mang Ri commune (Quang Ngai), but caused tremors in some neighboring localities such as Da Nang city and Gia Lai province, where people clearly felt the aftershocks.

According to the announcement from the Institute of Earth Sciences , at about 1:28 a.m. on October 6, in Mang Ri commune (Quang Ngai), an earthquake of magnitude 4.9 occurred, with a focal depth of about 8.1 km, and a level 1 natural disaster risk. The Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center - Institute of Earth Sciences is continuing to monitor this earthquake.

The epicenter of the 4.9 magnitude earthquake was located in Mang Ri commune, Quang Ngai .

Although this earthquake occurred in Quang Ngai province, it caused tremors to some neighboring localities such as Da Nang city, Gia Lai province, people felt the aftershocks very clearly. A resident in Nam Tra My commune (Da Nang) shared that the aftershocks of the earthquake made the house shake strongly, lasting for dozens of seconds.

In recent days, two communes in the West of Quang Ngai, Mang Ri and Mang But, have experienced consecutive earthquakes of different magnitudes, of which the earthquake that occurred in Mang Ri commune this morning had a magnitude of 4.9, the largest.
