HCMC HAS THE CONDITIONS TO LEAD THE DEVELOPMENT OF CULTURAL INDUSTRY

VCIDA is a professional social organization established under Decision No. 541/QD-BNV of the Ministry of Home Affairs dated May 30, 2025. The association was established with the expectation of becoming a focal point connecting management agencies, businesses, artists and the creative community. In particular, the association's goal is to promote the cultural industry to become a spearhead economic sector, create space for creativity, help Vietnamese cultural products spread domestically and reach international levels, while attracting investment, cooperation, international tourists, and enhancing the image of Vietnam on the world cultural map.

In the future vision, VCIDA aims to contribute to creating a breakthrough in the development of Vietnam's cultural industry, striving to contribute about 7% of GDP by 2030, making Vietnam an attractive destination for investors, artists and international tourists. VCIDA hopes to join forces with ministries, branches, provinces and localities to create cultural spaces, making Vietnam's image more attractive in the eyes of the world, "exporting" cultural products to gain economic benefits.

Speaking at the event, People's Artist Vuong Duy Bien, Chairman of VCIDA, said that the strong development of culture in recent times has become an important source of strength, contributing to promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam to international friends. He cited a series of events to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2, from art programs, parades, marches, exhibitions to the film Red Rain ... showing the spreading power of culture when done with passion.

"If we do well, culture will inspire and spread strongly, contributing to preserving national identity. Technology can develop rapidly but can never replace the human soul and heart," People's Artist Vuong Duy Bien emphasized.

According to the Chairman of VCIDA, the Association will set up a representative office in Ho Chi Minh City. Mr. Vuong Duy Bien added: "Ho Chi Minh City has many conditions to take the lead in developing the cultural industry, for other localities to learn from."

TO BRING VIETNAMESE CULTURE TO THE WORLD

People's Artist Vuong Duy Bien emphasized that in the context of deep integration as today, cultural identity is the unique value of each country on the world map, which needs to be preserved and developed. He said that the cultural industry is not only a creative field, but also an economic sector capable of creating great value if properly organized, invested and managed. "We may face many challenges, but there are also many opportunities. Technology, if applied properly, will open up many opportunities to make culture more attractive and reach a wider public. That also enhances Vietnam's image in the eyes of international friends, creating opportunities for international cooperation. We may need to make many efforts, but in terms of culture, I think we have the right to be proud," he affirmed.

The Chairman of VCIDA said that the association will accompany artists, businesses and social organizations, build a healthy creative environment, promote cultural products that are both imbued with national identity and capable of spreading to the world. In response to the question about the roadmap for exporting Vietnamese cultural products to the world, Mr. Vuong Duy Bien shared: "We hope to be able to bring Vietnamese cultural products to the world through many channels, from organizing exhibitions, cultural weeks, international art cooperation events and integrating Vietnamese cultural products and art activities into... Besides the association's efforts, we hope to have mechanisms and policies from the state to promote this activity."

At the event, Mr. Kenneth Ngov, representative of Tang Events Australia (Australia), presented figures showing that the global music industry generates more than 28 billion USD each year, of which 19.3 billion USD comes from online music streaming services. Of this 19.3 billion USD, Vietnam currently generates only 40 million USD, a small fraction compared to the global market share.

Kenneth Ngov cited South Korea as an example: "Over the past two decades, K-pop has become one of South Korea's strongest exports, boosting music, fashion, movies, tourism, and even the nation's brand. It is a living testament to how culture can be an economic engine and a source of global influence."

According to him, in Vietnam there is also a rising power: V-pop. "The potential is already there: artists, creativity, and young energy. What we need to do now is to bring that potential to the world. By introducing Vietnamese music to the world and organizing international events right in Vietnam, we can completely elevate the Vietnamese cultural industry and affirm the position of Vietnamese artists on the international stage," said Mr. Kenneth Ngov.

Within the framework of the program, VCIDA signed cooperation agreements with Tang Events Australia (organizing international cultural events), Arobid (digital ecosystem), Dinner Incredible (culinary art), GonChill Tourist Pass (cultural tourism and entertainment platform), DatVietVAC Group Holdings (developing Vietnam's cultural industry)... and many partners in education, creative startups, entrepreneurs and festivals.
