Director of PN-KB Tourism Center Hoang Minh Thang said that from having only 2 tourism products, Phong Nha Cave and Tien Son Cave, up to now PN-KB National Park has 17 tourism products, including international-class tourism products, such as: "Conquering Son Doong, the largest cave in the world ".
“Tourism in PN-KB is increasingly expanding in scale and improving in quality, aiming at developing sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism types. However, tourism is a special economic sector, largely dependent on natural environmental conditions. Currently, climate change along with the increase of extreme weather events has been affecting natural resources, changing the value and potential of tourism exploitation. In that context, developing sustainable tourism adapting to climate change has become a long-term and urgent task for PN-KB National Park...”, Director of PN-KB Tourism Center, Hoang Minh Thang said.

It is known that in PN-KB National Park, the rainy season is often accompanied by flooding, flash floods, landslides, and river sedimentation in many cave and stream areas, especially along the main rivers and streams, such as: Son River, Chay River, Tra Ang Stream. Recently, in June 2025, due to the impact of storm Wutip combined with prolonged heavy rain, flooding occurred at many points in the core heritage area of PN-KB National Park, causing some roads to the caves to be cut off and tourism infrastructure (bridges, boat docks, camps) to be damaged. Many tours had to be postponed or canceled, such as: Phong Nha Cave, Tien Son, Nuoc Mooc Stream, Chay River - Dark Cave, Thien Duong Cave... Thereby, significantly reducing the number of visitors to PN-KB National Park during the peak season, significantly affecting the quality of visitors' experiences. At the same time, the supporting infrastructure system is also under great pressure from climate change.
Faced with these challenges, the PN-KB National Park Management Board has proactively implemented many solutions to develop tourism that adapts to climate change, such as: The planning of tourism exploitation space has been adjusted in the direction of dispersion, reducing the load on main tourist attractions during peak season. The tourism infrastructure system has been flexibly designed, capable of adapting to harsh weather conditions, such as: Installing composite plastic slides that can be dismantled during flood season at Mooc rapids; deploying a floating house model to serve visitors on the Chay River...
In addition, environmental monitoring and climate risk assessment have been enhanced, with investment in a natural disaster warning system including two flood warning modules, and upgraded forest fire prevention and fighting and rescue systems. Environmental education activities, raising public awareness and communicating about climate change and green tourism have also been focused on, such as: Encouraging tree planting; not using disposable plastic products; collecting waste and participating in monitoring forest resources and biodiversity, etc.
In particular, the PN-KB National Park Management Board has strengthened cooperation with international organizations in assessing climate change impacts, conserving biodiversity, developing sustainable tourism; organizing training courses for staff and providing technical guidance on sustainable ecotourism, etc.
