On April 9, the Central Highlands General Hospital ( Dak Lak ) announced that the hospital had just successfully performed surgery to reattach the severed foot of a female patient who was in a traffic accident.
Previously, in the early morning of April 8, Ms. PTP (28 years old, residing in Buon Don District, Dak Lak) and her husband were traveling on a road in this district when an accident occurred with a tractor.
The patient was admitted to the Central Highlands General Hospital with a diagnosis of multiple injuries, liver contusion, lung contusion, severed right lower leg, fractured right humerus, and fractured upper end of the radius. After performing the necessary procedures, the patient was quickly taken to the emergency operating room.
Successful foot reattachment surgery for patient
According to a leader of the Orthopedic Trauma Department, Tay Nguyen General Hospital, the patient was admitted with a severed right leg and a crushed wound, making the surgery difficult.
During the surgery, the doctors had to shorten the bones, blood vessels and tendons to be able to suture the blood vessels, tendons, nerves and bones of the patient's foot. The surgery lasted 5 hours, the patient was transfused 4 units of blood.
After 24 hours of surgery, the patient's leg is now warm and pink, the instep pulse is palpable, and the toes can be moved. Currently, blood circulation is stable, and the patient's health is gradually recovering.
