Lao Vice President visits and works in Hai Phong city

Mr. Bounthong Chitmany - Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, Vice President of Laos highly appreciated the twinning relationship and comprehensive cooperation between Hai Phong and Lao localities.

On December 5, within the framework of his visit and work in Vietnam, Mr. Bounthong Chitmany, Politburo member, Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat, Vice President of Laos led a high-ranking delegation of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party to visit and work in Hai Phong city.

Hai Phong City Party Secretary Le Tien Chau expressed his joy when the city welcomed Mr. Bounthong Chitmany and the high-ranking delegation of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party to exchange and share experiences in Party building work of the two countries in general and Hai Phong city in particular.

Hai Phong City Party Secretary Le Tien Chau affirmed that the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, founded by the great President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane and beloved President Souphanouvong, and nurtured by generations of leaders of the two Parties, States and peoples, is the foundation for the two countries to promote and pass on to future generations.

Mr. Le Tien Chau said that for Hai Phong, the cooperation relationship between the city and the two provinces of Vientiane and Oudomxay in recent years has achieved many good results in the fields of Party building, government, education and training, health care, tourism, investment cooperation, trade, etc.

In terms of training cooperation, there are currently 117 Lao students studying on scholarships at universities in Hai Phong. Delegation exchanges, friendship exchanges, and information and propaganda activities are actively implemented. In recent years, the city has been honored to welcome and work with many high-ranking Lao delegations.

Regarding people-to-people diplomacy activities, the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association of Hai Phong city is one of the largest and most active associations with many meaningful activities organized regularly, contributing to strengthening the relationship between the people of the two countries.

Mr. Le Tien Chau shared that implementing Resolution No. 45-NQ/TW of the Politburo on building and developing Hai Phong city to 2030, with a vision to 2045; the directions of the two General Secretaries Nguyen Phu Trong and To Lam, since the beginning of the term until now and especially in 2024, Hai Phong has achieved many important and outstanding results in all aspects.

The work of building the Party, the political system, and mobilizing the people has been carried out comprehensively and synchronously with high determination. Democracy within the Party has been widely implemented, creating a high level of solidarity and unity throughout the Party. The Party's leadership method has been innovated; administrative processes and procedures within the Party have been reduced. The preparation for organizing Party Congresses at all levels towards the 17th Congress of the City Party Committee has been directed resolutely, methodically, and synchronously.

Hai Phong has an economic scale of 16.62 billion USD, ranking 6th in the country. The growth rate of gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in 2024 is estimated at 11.01%, ranking 3rd in the country. Hai Phong is the first city in the country to achieve 10 consecutive years of double-digit GRDP growth. Mr. Bounthong Chitmany thanked the city for its warm welcome to the delegation; expressed his impression and congratulated the city on its comprehensive development achievements in all fields. Hai Phong is one of the five centrally-run cities, has a particularly important strategic position in terms of economy and is the economic locomotive of the Northern region of Vietnam. The city has the largest seaport system in the North; is the center of maritime transport connection of Vietnam, the region and the world.

Mr. Bounthong Chitmany emphasized that the visit and work in Hai Phong is a good opportunity to exchange and share experiences in Party building work of the two sides; at the same time, he provided general information about the situation in all aspects of Laos and the achievements Laos has achieved in recent times, especially in implementing the Resolution of the 11th Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and Laos successfully assuming the role of ASEAN Chair and AIPA 45 Chair in 2024.

Mr. Bounthong Chitmany highly appreciated the twinning relationship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Hai Phong city and Lao localities; affirmed that the Lao Party, State and people will do their utmost together with Vietnam to preserve and foster the special Laos-Vietnam solidarity relationship, promote innovation, proactively and actively integrate into the international community, and together strive to build a strong and prosperous country, where people can have a prosperous, free and happy life.

The contents of the exchange and sharing on Party building work have been clarified by the leaders of Hai Phong city, and will be valuable experiences for the working delegation, contributing to continuing to successfully build a peaceful, stable, democratic, unified and prosperous Laos according to the socialist goal.

Hai Phong City Party Secretary Le Tien Chau hopes and believes that the cooperation achievements between the city and Lao localities in recent times are an important foundation for the two sides to maintain and promote the friendship and cooperation relationship to develop more strongly in the coming time.

On the same afternoon, Mr. Bounthong Chitmany and the high-ranking delegation of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party visited and worked in Hong Bang district.
