During this Lunar New Year, in addition to the Home Hanoi Xuan 2024 flower street, Pont de Long Bien walking street in Mailand Hanoi City (Bac An Khanh, Hoai Duc) is open for free from 8:30 am to 9:00 pm to welcome residents and tourists to visit and experience for 11 days (February 3 to February 14).
Launched in 2022, Pont de Long Bien walking street is inspired by the historic Long Bien bridge with 24 viaduct arches, symbolizing the artistic neighborhood in Paris and 15 ancient stalls with the characteristics of the thousand-year-old Thang Long land. Long Bien bridge, the main symbol spanning the entire neighborhood, is likened to connecting the past, present and future, connecting Hanoi's cultural identity with the spirit of innovation and creativity.
Since February 3, thousands of residents and tourists have been present on the walking street, immersing themselves in the bustling atmosphere of the coming Tet and spring.
Families experience throwing con - a popular folk game during New Year festivals of the Tay, Thai, Muong ethnic groups... in the Northwest region. The game conveys the hope for a good new year, good crops, growth of all things, and the harmony of yin and yang, heaven and earth.
In addition to throwing the ball, young residents and tourists can experience many traditional activities and games such as playing hopscotch, throwing butter tubes, walking on stilts, blindfolded pot smashing, jumping rope, etc.
The stalls selling Dong Ho folk paintings and calligraphy, and making lucky money envelopes also attract children. In the center of the walking street, artisans perform unique folk arts: Chau Van singing, Quan Ho singing, traditional music, water puppetry, etc., imbued with traditional values.
For many tourists, participating in activities and experiencing traditional culture at Pont de Long Bien walking street helps them relive their childhood memories. Many parents consider this an opportunity to remind their children about the traditional cultural values of the nation.
Knowing about the event through social media, Ms. Hoang Yen (Dong Da district) and her husband took the time to take their children out. “After walking around the spring flower street, my whole family took a walk on this walking street. There are many interesting activities and folk games here, suitable for my children's ages,” Ms. Yen said.
The walking street was also chosen as the venue for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ' "Vietnam Learning Day" event, to promote Vietnamese culture to diplomatic corps and international organizations. The diplomatic delegation was excited to experience bamboo dancing - a unique cultural feature of the ethnic minorities in the Northwest mountains.

Following Pont de Long Bien walking street, the newly opened Van Hien street also increases the space and experience of tourists with other attractive activities. Pont de Long Bien walking street is an art space, a gathering place for many cultural and creative activities in the past two years of operation. In the future, this place is oriented to become a center of cultural and creative exchange based on the philosophy of "for humanity", promoting the value of local cultural heritage, promoting creativity in culture, tourism, trade and economic development.
The street is also an important "piece" of the Mailand Hanoi City urban area on its journey to becoming a "creative city" - a place where sustainable urban planning and design intersect with cultural heritage with the support of UNESCO and UN-Habitat.
Mailand Hanoi City is a model urban area in West Hanoi, focusing on human experience and creativity as the focus of development. This is also an urban area that is working alongside Hanoi to promote its role as one of the creative cities in the world.
Not only does it create a community that is proud of the cultural and historical heritage values of Hanoi, it is also a creative space, putting culture at the center of development, adapting to future changes to live, work, and enjoy a fresh natural environment rich in identity.
On New Year's Eve 2024, Mailand Hanoi City is also one of the focal points of the fireworks display to celebrate the New Year in Hanoi.
