According to a VNA reporter in Singapore, on October 18, the 2025 Vietnamese Pho Festival opened at Our Tampines Hub, Singapore, attracting a large number of tourists to visit and enjoy.
This is the first time that Vietnamese Pho has been present in a specialized festival in the “Lion Island,” opening up opportunities to promote culture, cuisine and trade between the two countries.
With the message “Pho - Enjoy together, develop together”, the event aims to introduce Vietnamese Pho as a “cultural ambassador”, contributing to connecting the community and promoting cultural cooperation, tourism , trade and investment between Vietnam and Singapore.
This message was also shared by Mr. Desmond Choo-Minister of State for Defence , former District Chief of North East District, in his opening speech at the festival.
Mr Desmond Choo stressed that Pho is not just a beloved dish but also tells a story of family, heritage and resilience of the Vietnamese people. “Pho reflects how Vietnamese culture nourishes both the body and the spirit, and how something so simple can connect people across borders,” he said.
According to Mr. Desmond Choo, this year's theme “Pho - Enjoy Together, Grow Together,” accurately depicts the friendship between Singapore and Vietnam, a friendship based on mutual respect, shared aspirations and the belief that the two countries will grow stronger together.
The festival has main activities taking place in the shopping and commercial complex, highlighted by the culinary space serving "authentic" Vietnamese Pho prepared directly by artisans and top chefs, along with a number of other traditional dishes such as bread, fried spring rolls... creating a "culinary symphony" imbued with Vietnamese identity.
Exhibition space for images, agricultural products, spices and unique tourism services of Vietnam; along with cultural programs, performances of traditional musical instruments combined with modern exchanges to help the public have more experiences about Vietnamese culture and people.
Sharing with VNA reporters, Mr. Desmond Choo assessed the festival as a very practical implementation of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Singapore.
This is an important step forward, helping Singaporeans better understand Vietnam's diverse agricultural products, opening up business cooperation opportunities not only in Singapore but also in the region.
Enjoying a bowl of hot pho with a strong Vietnamese flavor, Ms. Huynh My Buu happily said: "I have lived here for nearly 20 years and am very happy that the Vietnamese Pho Festival is held in Singapore, so that I can enjoy the strong flavors of Vietnam right in Singapore."
With a special love for pho, Ms. Nguyen Khanh Kim Chi said: "This is an opportunity for me to experience and try all kinds of pho from restaurants from many regions of Vietnam, while supporting the Vietnamese spirit and culture, especially connecting and developing together."
Also a big fan of Vietnamese Pho, local resident Thomas shared: “I have tried pho dishes, from chicken pho, seafood pho and mixed pho. All are very delicious.”
Within the framework of the festival, a notable highlight was the forum promoting investment, trade and tourism between Vietnam and Singapore with the participation of about 150 businesses from both countries. Discussions and direct business connections created a space for trade and investment connections for participating businesses.
According to Mr. Desmond Choo, organizing such forums is very important, helping partners and businesses have the opportunity to understand each other better, thereby promoting new agreements in both directions, contributing to promoting the relationship between the two countries.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Tran Phuoc Anh emphasized that the 2025 Vietnamese Pho Festival in Singapore has a very special significance, as it takes place in the context of the best development of Vietnam-Singapore relations, especially since the two countries upgraded their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
Second, the festival is held in a residential area, the largest integrated community in Singapore, Our Tampines Hub, which helps to strongly spread Vietnamese culinary culture.
Besides, the festival also has a very special meaning which is to unite the Vietnamese community in Singapore.
The 2025 Vietnamese Pho Festival is organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore, Tuoi Tre Newspaper, and Saigontourist Group in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade and the Liaison Committee for Vietnamese in Singapore, under the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. The festival takes place from October 18-19./.
