Phu Quy: A worker missing when fishing boat sank at sea

According to the Provincial Border Guard Command, at 7 p.m. last night (June 3), fishing boat BTh 97155 TS of Phu Quy district was operating at sea when it was damaged by water and sank. Currently, 1 worker is missing and has not been found.

Accordingly, this fishing boat has a capacity of 748 CV, including 9 workers, working in squid fishing, with Mr. Van Thanh Sy (born in 1989, residing in Quy Hai village, Long Hai commune) as the boat owner and captain.

While the ship was operating in an area about 3 nautical miles southwest of Phu Quy Island (coordinates 1033*12”N-108°54′43 E), it encountered strong winds and waves. As a result, the BTh 97155 TS was damaged and sank. Currently, 8 crew members on the fishing boat have swum to shore and are in stable health. One crew member, Tran Van Tr. (born in 1988, residing in Tan Hai village, Long Hai), is missing.
Immediately after the incident, the Provincial Border Guard Command directed the Phu Quy Border Guard Station to dispatch the BP 11.19.01 ship to join the search for the victim. At the same time, it requested the Phan Thiet Coastal Information Station to broadcast a notice to vessels and fishermen operating at sea near the above area, if discovered, to organize a rescue.
