On the morning of October 20, at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense , General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, presided over the welcoming ceremony for Major General Pavel Muraveiko, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces - First Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Belarus.
At the meeting, General Nguyen Tan Cuong affirmed that the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Belarus has been continuously strengthened and nurtured over time.
The two countries upgraded their relationship to a strategic partnership during General Secretary To Lam's state visit to Belarus in early May, with defense relations playing an important role as a pillar in bilateral relations.

General Nguyen Tan Cuong emphasized that ASEAN is a key factor in shaping regional structure through ASEAN-led mechanisms.
Vietnam supports and works with other members to strengthen ASEAN's central role, enhance solidarity and unity within the bloc, narrow differences, and promote substantive cooperation with partners.

Regarding the direction of defense cooperation in the coming time, General Nguyen Tan Cuong suggested that the two sides continue to coordinate closely to effectively promote the following contents: Maintaining delegation exchanges, high-level and all-level contacts,... researching potential cooperation areas such as military science and military medicine.
General Nguyen Tan Cuong believes that this visit of the delegation will contribute to consolidating and further strengthening bilateral defense cooperation in particular, and at the same time contribute to the traditional friendship and strategic partnership between Vietnam and Belarus, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace, stability and common development.
Major General Pavel Muraveiko affirmed that Vietnam and Belarus are two countries with many similarities, two countries fighting for independence and national liberation.

The First Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Belarus agreed with Vietnam's viewpoint on the world and regional situation and the results of defense cooperation between the two countries in recent times.
He affirmed that the Republic of Belarus is ready to cooperate with countries with friendly policies, together developing for peace, stability and development; and suggested that in the coming time, the two countries continue to promote cooperation in training, military sports, etc.
Major General Pavel Muraveiko thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense for accepting Belarusian soldiers to study Vietnamese. This is an opportunity for Belarus to enhance its understanding of Vietnamese culture, country and people, contributing to promoting relations between the two countries.
During the visit, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, received Major General Pavel Muraveiko, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces - First Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Belarus.
At the reception, General Phan Van Giang emphasized that Vietnam - Belarus defense cooperation has been effectively implemented, in line with the overall traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries and signed international treaties and agreements, achieving many positive results.
General Phan Van Giang affirmed that the people and the Vietnam People's Army always appreciate the valuable support and assistance that the people of the Republic of Belarus have given Vietnam in the struggle for national independence and reunification.
To express gratitude for that assistance, the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense built a monument of Vietnam-Soviet Union solidarity and friendship (including Belarusian military experts) on the grounds of the Vietnam Military History Museum.
