Quynh Phu: Focus on drainage to protect rice and vegetables

On the morning of September 9, comrade Hoang Thai Phuc, member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee, inspected and directed the work of overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3 in Quynh Phu district.

Up to now, 2,000 hectares of flooded rice fields due to storm No. 3 are being drained by the localities of Quynh Phu district; flooded vegetable areas are being dredged by members of the commune to avoid root and stem rot. Broken and fallen trees and electric poles are being cleaned up and promptly repaired by units and localities. Currently, pumping stations in the district have mobilized maximum human resources to operate at full capacity to serve the drainage work.

Inspecting the drainage work at Quynh Hoa Pumping Station (Quynh Hoa Commune) and Dai Lam Pumping Station (Quynh Tho Commune); the drainage work for 30 hectares of flooded rice in Quynh Tho Commune, the Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee acknowledged the initiative of the district and localities in overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3.
He requested the district to direct pumping stations to operate at full capacity to drain water, assign staff to be on duty 24/24 hours, maintain 100% operation of pumps and drainage channels to drain water as quickly as possible. For broken and fallen electric poles causing power outages, Quynh Phu Electricity mobilized human resources to urgently fix the problem and restore power supply soon, giving priority to pumping stations to drain water as well as ensuring electricity for daily life for people. For broken and fallen rice fields, after draining water, the locality promptly directed the commune members to urgently tie, rebuild, and clear drainage points and canals to drain water as quickly as possible; at the same time, instruct the commune members on measures to care for and protect rice and vegetables after the storm.
