"Short Stories 2025" brings together diverse authors from many generations, from 6x, 7x to young writers born in 2000, creating a continuous connection between creative sources. Besides the short stories that are gentle and clear like the morning mist, the collection also has works that are dense with darkness, as melancholy as a sigh, or stories that intertwine legends, anecdotes and memories. Although having many different nuances, most of the works focus on the core "love stories, stories of righteousness" that make up the identity of the Vietnamese people.
The characters in the collection may be very ordinary people, even nameless, but when faced with harsh events, they still know how to support and help each other to overcome. It is love and tolerance that makes the stories so moving, evoking in readers faith in happiness, the desire to live and the power of human love.
Among the carefully selected works are The Spring Night Ferry (Tran Nguyen Anh), The Delta Storyteller (Tong Phuoc Bao), Cloud Hunting (Phan Ngoc Chinh), The Beggar's Grave (Phan Xuan Luat), The Moon Digger at Night (Nguyen Luan), The Horseshoer in Hang Chai (Tong Ngoc Han)... Each short story, from the storytelling to the characters, opens up a separate world but still touches on common human issues, helping readers reflect on their own lives.
Writer Tran Nguyen Anh and Writer Tong Phuoc Bao share a lot of information about the works in the short story collection.
Writer Tong Phuoc Bao shared: “This anthology is like a regular selection that we writers eagerly await. It is both a confirmation of the author and the work, and a testament to the openness of the project in creating opportunities for many generations to speak up.”
With the combination of many generations of writers, humanistic depth and diversity in style, "Short Stories 2025" continues to affirm the role of a valuable annual anthology in contemporary literary life.
