A useful and creative playground for caregivers

With the meaning and importance of childcare, in the 2024-2025 school year, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training organized a competition for excellent childcare staff at the Hanoi preschool level.

Director of Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong presented souvenir flags to representatives of units with candidates taking the exam.

The contest is an opportunity for caregivers to show their talents, providing children with delicious meals with a rich, nutritious menu, ensuring food hygiene and safety and suitable for each age; improving the quality of care and nutrition for children in schools.

The contest also aims to honor excellent nursing staff and promote advanced models, contributing to attracting the attention of social forces to participate in scientific child care and education; motivating nursing staff to strive, meet the requirements of innovation, and improve the quality of care and education of preschool children.

Each pair of caregivers competes in 3 categories: menu creation; preparing 10 meals a day for children at school at a cost of 25,000 VND/child/day; presenting the menu, portion sizes, and dishes for children according to the contest products.

To prepare for the city competition, recently, 100% of schools in the city have organized competitions for excellent caretakers at the grassroots level. There are more than 7,800 staff participating in the competition out of a total of 10,508 caretakers at all levels, reaching a rate of 74.3%. Of these, 1,739 staff have been selected to compete at the district, town and city levels.

In his opening speech, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong emphasized that preschool education is the first level in the national education system, laying the foundation for the comprehensive development of Vietnamese people.

In preschools, nurturing, caring for and educating children are two parallel tasks, which are very important in contributing to creating a solid foundation for children's future development.

Preschool children are in the period of physical and intellectual formation and development, so the nutritional regime for children in preschools is always the top concern of parents, administrators, teachers and school staff.

As one of the 140 contestants, Mr. Bui Duc Binh, a culinary technician at Kindergarten B - who has 35 years of experience in the profession, shared: "The contest is a useful playground, a valuable opportunity for us to demonstrate our skills and knowledge of nutrition, food hygiene and safety as well as creative ways to prepare and decorate dishes for preschool children."

According to the organizers, the contest will take place on September 28 and 29, 2024.
