Reporter "crossing the border"
By skillfully using technological applications, many reporters of Hai Duong Newspaper and Radio - Television Station have "crossed the border" to reflect on Hai Duong people abroad with words, images, and films that are realistic, vivid and full of emotion.
Journalist Vu Huy Long, Head of the Radio and Television Reporters Department of Hai Duong Newspaper and Radio and Television Station, has “crossed the border” many times to create journalistic works about Hai Duong people living abroad. Not only connecting with people in Germany, Australia, Taiwan… but also with Hai Duong people living and working in the country such as Ha Giang , Ho Chi Minh City…
Along with that, many news and articles about the SEA Games football tournament by Mr. Long have recorded the real atmosphere of watching and cheering for the Vietnamese football team abroad; promptly reflecting the emotions and images of people far from home during the glorious moments of Vietnamese football. In particular, his news, articles and reports on the Covid - 19 pandemic have recorded the feelings and support of Hai Duong people abroad towards their homeland. He also reflects many examples of doing business in Japan, honoring the traditional specialties of his hometown Hai Duong...
Journalist Vu Huy Long shared: “Each news, article, and report is a bridge, so that people in Hai Duong know how their children are living and can be proud of their relatives and friends. And people far from home feel they are not lost."

Reporters Do Van Quyet, Pham Thi Thanh Nga, Nguyen Lan of Hai Duong Newspaper and Radio - Television Station have also written many articles about Hai Duong people abroad.
In 2024, reporter Do Quyet wrote the article “Working in Japan and the unfinished dream”. The article reflected that Japan’s economy has experienced many fluctuations in recent years, making the lives of Hai Duong people working in this country unstable. Most recently, Quyet’s article “Hai Duong people abroad look forward to the great celebration” was written on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. The article reflects that Hai Duong people in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, etc. express their national pride through many practical and meaningful activities.
Stay up all night for interview
Journalist Vu Huy Long said that in order to write an article about Hai Duong people celebrating Tet abroad, he had to find Facebook groups of the Vietnamese community in that country, then text and call to ask for connection. He connected through relatives and friends who are living and working abroad. Some people refused, some were shy, but there were also people who opened up. It was these scattered pieces that created full, emotional stories.
Mr. Long said that one of the difficulties in making news and articles about Hai Duong people abroad is the time zone difference. “I remember during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021, I had to call the person in the US at 12:00 pm in Vietnam, which was also 9-10:00 am in the US. There were times when I had to reschedule many times because the person could not talk for long. Another difficulty was that I had to guide the person to take pictures and record videos of the best quality so that they could be used. But not every time went smoothly,” Mr. Long said.

Similarly, reporter Do Quyet also makes the most of social networks, relatives and friends to connect. Some of his articles reflect complex issues such as illegal immigration, financial risks, cultural distance, loneliness in a strange place...
“The hardest thing is to write correctly and truthfully without hurting the character or offending the readers. We have to verify carefully, call back many times, and compare information from many sources. Writing about people far away requires even more care,” said Mr. Quyet.
Not only reflecting, the reporters' articles also became an invisible thread connecting people far from home with their homeland. Many young people in the US, Korea, and Japan contacted the reporters, sent more documents and images, and even invited the reporters to continue writing the stories of their communities.
Mr. Nguyen Van Quy in Lac Long commune (Kinh Mon) regularly reads newspapers and watches Hai Duong radio and television. He said that Hai Duong Newspaper and the provincial Radio and Television Station have updated a lot of information about Hai Duong people both domestically and internationally. Every time there is an important event in the homeland or country, seeing relatives in newspapers and on radio makes him even happier. "In 2024, seeing the image of his son in Hai Duong newspaper in the article How are Hai Duong people in Russia now? makes the family feel very happy and more secure," Mr. Quy said.
