Sharing difficulties from 'Zero-dong Supermarkets'

In recent days, many agencies, units and businesses have implemented support activities to share difficulties with the people of Thai Nguyen - a place heavily affected by the rain caused by storm No. 11. In particular, the models of "Mini supermarket 0 VND" or "Zero VND market" providing free necessities to people have become beautiful images, spreading the spirit of mutual love and support in the community.

With a free shopping voucher worth 400,000 VND, people can choose the items at the supermarket that suit their family's actual needs. The "0 VND Mini Supermarket" model is an activity implemented by Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company (PNJ) in collaboration with the Gold Trust Fund in localities of Thai Nguyen province after the flood.

Phase 1 was held from October 14 to 17 in three localities: Linh Son ward, Trung Thanh ward and Diem Thuy commune. The total initial support amount is expected to be about 1 billion VND with 2,000 gifts given, mainly essential goods such as: rice, fish sauce, salt, cooking oil, dishwashing liquid, floor cleaner, canned meat...

Ms. Ngo Thi Phien, Huong Trung hamlet, Linh Son ward, emotionally recounted that her family's entire house and livestock and vegetable growing area were flooded. Rice, paddy, and poultry were all swept away. Support from the government, organizations, and businesses at this time is extremely meaningful for the family to overcome immediate difficulties and stabilize their lives.

Ms. Pham Thuy Dung, Director of PNJ Northern Branch, shared: Through the program, the company hopes that people will not only receive material support, but also feel the companionship and sharing from the community. The households receiving support are all policy families, poor and near-poor households and households in difficult circumstances severely affected by storms and floods. The unit will continue to coordinate with localities to expand the model, and continue to call on officers, employees, partners... to join hands to contribute.

As soon as the water receded, the “Zero-VND Market” initiated by the Fanpage group “Thai Nguyen Sisters” was also formed. Members gathered and called for donations of necessary household items, clothes, and used textbooks that were cleaned and packaged to be delivered to people at 3 locations: Bac Kan Street, Duong Tu Minh Street, and Hoang Hoa Tham Street, to support people in need to overcome the consequences of natural disasters.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Hang, lecturer at Thai Nguyen College of Commerce - a member of the Group, said: All the goods and items were packaged and classified by women in Hanoi as well as many people from many places to send with the desire to join hands to help people quickly overcome difficulties. The storm and flood have passed, life must continue, sharing and supporting to overcome difficulties together at this time is extremely necessary and meaningful.

Ms. Le Thi Thu Hien, Vice Chairwoman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Linh Son Ward, informed: There are still many households in the ward that are still in a difficult period, needing companionship and help. Therefore, we really hope that more organizations and philanthropists will care and share with people in disaster areas so that they can have more conditions to stabilize their lives.
