One spillway gate of Son La Hydropower Reservoir will be closed at 9:00 a.m. on October 7.

On October 7, Son La Hydropower Company issued Official Dispatch No. 1791/TĐSL-KTAT to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Son La Provincial Civil Defense Command, and Phu Tho Provincial Civil Defense Command regarding the closure of one bottom spillway gate of Son La Hydropower Reservoir.

According to Son La Hydropower Company, based on Bulletin No. 061025HV/DBQG-TVBB dated October 6, 2025 of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting on the 5-day hydrological forecast of the flow to Son La Lake, the average flow to the lake is forecasted to be 3,260 m3/s.

At 7:00 a.m. on October 7, the water level of Son La Hydropower Reservoir was 214.52 m and was gradually decreasing; at the same time, to regulate the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant and reduce the water level in Hanoi, Son La Hydropower Company proposed to close the bottom discharge gate of Son La Hydropower Reservoir at 9:00 a.m. on October 7.
