New low pressure forecast to head towards East Sea after storm No. 11, heavy rain and flooding

Right after storm No. 11 weakened, on October 6, a new low pressure area appeared in the east of the Philippines with the possibility of entering the East Sea if it strengthens.

According to the latest storm forecast models of the US Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC), the low pressure area (designated Invest 95W) is expanding and intensifying in the eastern part of the Philippines . The system currently has strong winds of about 30 km/h and continues to move northwest.

JTWC forecasts that in the next 24-48 hours, low pressure 95W is likely to develop into a tropical depression or a full tropical storm, depending on sea surface temperature and convection conditions in the area.

Currently, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) and international storm forecasting centers are closely monitoring the possibility of the low pressure changing direction and approaching the East Sea in the coming days.

Meanwhile, another convective cloud cluster was also detected between Micronesia and the Marshall Islands, however the possibility of a low pressure area forming in this area remains low.

Regarding the long-term forecast for the next two weeks, the PAGASA update on October 6 said that in the first week (October 6-12), Typhoon Ha Long will remain active near Japan. In addition, Low Pressure 2 will appear in the PAR region. Low Pressure 3 will form near the East Sea (West Philippine Sea), heading towards the Central - North Central region of Vietnam.

In the second week (October 13-19), the forecast model shows that Low Pressure 3 near the East Sea will hardly move, but tends to move towards the South Central Coast of Vietnam. Low Pressure 2 is expected to approach Eastern Luzon before changing direction to the sea. Both have a low probability of strengthening into a storm.

However, PAGASA warned that the possibility of orbital change is still high, so people in coastal areas of the Philippines, the East Sea and central and northern Vietnam need to continue to closely monitor the next weather forecasts.

According to the Vietnam National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, last night and early this morning (October 7), the Northern region and Thanh Hoa had moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain; especially Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang , Hanoi and Thanh Hoa had heavy to very heavy rain.

Rainfall from 7:00 p.m. on October 6 to 6:00 a.m. on October 7 was locally over 200mm in some places such as: Hoa Thuong Station ( Thai Nguyen ) 437.6mm, Bo Ha Station (Bac Giang) 250.4mm,...

Rain forecast in Hanoi in the next 3-6 hours: continued moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, general rainfall 50-100mm, some places very heavy rain over 150mm; from late afternoon and night rain will decrease rapidly.

This rain will cause localized flooding on some streets with the greatest flooding depth commonly from 0.20-0.40m, some places will be deeper; flooding time is about 01-03 hours, some places will be flooded longer.
