What if humans were born on the moon?

(Dan Tri) - What if you were one of the children born on the Moon? With gravity six times weaker and extremely high levels of radiation, your life would be completely different from that on Earth.

Your life will begin more than 384,400 km from Earth, at a state-of-the-art base surrounded by an extremely thin atmosphere, with no liquid water on the surface. Radiation levels can be up to 1,000 times higher than on Earth, with temperatures ranging from 120°C during the day to -130°C at night.

However, instead of facing this harsh environment, you would be born and raised in an amazing self-sustaining habitat, possibly a cylindrical air chamber dug deep underground or a similar structure in a natural cave.

Low-gravity birth and physical changes

With gravity six times lower than Earth's, your mother's pregnancy could be longer, and childbirth would be extremely difficult. For every month she spends in space, she could lose about 1-2% of her bone density, making vaginal birth extremely dangerous.

To be safe, doctors would be forced to perform Caesarean sections. This could lead to one of the first major differences between Earth and Moon children: without having to pass through the birth canal, future generations could evolve to have larger heads.

Increased radiation levels may also cause other physical changes. Melanin in our skin acts as a protection against solar radiation. With the thin atmosphere of the Moon, humans may have evolved darker skin to enhance their natural protection.

However, the opposite could also happen: because humans spend so much of their time in enclosed environments, they could become paler. High levels of radiation could also lead to the emergence of a new human species if Earthlings and Lunarians do not interbreed.

This is a vision that may take hundreds, even thousands of generations to come true, but you will be the starting point for an incredible evolution of humanity.

The challenges of returning to Earth and the majestic vision

If you decide to travel back to Earth one day, you will face many difficulties. It will take a week or two for your body to get used to the stronger gravity. You will feel dizzy every time you stand up because your blood pressure regulation system has become accustomed to the Moon's weak gravity.

Additionally, your immune system may be weakened due to lack of exposure to Earth-based pathogens, leaving you susceptible to infections.

However, life on the Moon also has benefits that are not available on Earth. You will have a spectacular view of our planet. The Earth reflects sunlight more strongly than the Moon, making it 43 times brighter than the moonlight on Earth.

This means you will get to see a gorgeous planet in the sky at all times. With a thin atmosphere, you will also get to see the twinkling stars even during the day.

Being born on the Moon is a unique experience with both benefits and drawbacks. Despite the physical and environmental challenges, you will be part of a pioneering generation, opening a new chapter in human history and exploring the mysteries of the universe.
