Accordingly, schools affected by storms and floods, where students cannot go to school to study or do activities, must proactively develop appropriate learning plans and methods.
Schools with boarding students in areas heavily affected by storms and floods must closely monitor their students. Movement must be closely coordinated with families, following the direction of local authorities to ensure absolute safety for students.
At the same time, prepare enough food, water according to students' living needs during storms.
The Department's leaders require that before and after storms and floods, schools must have plans to move assets, machinery, equipment, tables, chairs, records and books to a safe place.
In particular, schools with many trees on campus must immediately check and contact specialized agencies to handle trees at risk of breaking or falling, and warn students, parents, teachers, and staff in the school of the danger.
After the rain and flood, we must organize cleaning, overcome the consequences, and prevent disease outbreaks.
The Hanoi Department of Education and Training requires schools to stop all extracurricular activities during stormy weather, especially in areas at risk of flooding and landslides. Establish an information channel to parents to manage students and minimize possible risks.
On September 30, according to Tuoi Tre Online, some kindergartens and primary schools in suburban areas such as Son Tay, Hoai Duc... had to let students stay home from school because heavy rain caused flooding.
In the inner city area, some private schools such as Nguyen Sieu Inter-level High School, Wellspring International Bilingual School System - Wellspring, Dao Duy Tu School... also announced that all students would be off school.
Some other schools, such as Marie Curie Hanoi High School, let students leave school early (one period off from the schedule) to return home before severe flooding.
However, most public schools still let students go to school as usual. Many parents struggled to get their children to school in the rain, flooding and traffic jams on the morning of September 30.
By noon on September 30, some schools informed parents that if they can afford it, they can pick up their children early (no second session).
According to the principals of some schools in Hanoi, they subjectively thought that the eye of the storm would not reach Hanoi. In the document dated September 30, the department only mentioned that flooded schools and students could not go to school before adjusting their learning plans. Therefore, the schools did not notify students to take time off, but they stopped outdoor activities, experiential activities, and extracurricular activities.
