Suni Ha Linh somersaults in the air at 'Ride the Wind'

Suni Ha Linh somersaulted 10 meters high to open the Chinese show "Treading the Wind", leaving many contestants in awe.

On the afternoon of April 19, the first episode of the show Sisters Who Make Waves 2024 aired on Hunan TV, China. Suni Ha Linh performed the solo performance of Just Chill - a song released by the singer in 2021, attracting more than 100 million views.

Suni Ha Linh appeared in the air with a 10m silk rope, then performed balancing acts and somersaults. Her performance made the "big sisters" at the show constantly show surprised expressions. After landing, the singer sang the song in Vietnamese and Chinese. Suni ended the performance by throwing colored powder, creating an effect on the stage.

Her performance was praised by many domestic audiences for its elaborate staging, Suni's stage presence, and stable singing voice.

Suni Ha Linh said she only had a week to come up with ideas and prepare everything for her debut performance. The performance was inspired by the fairy tale Tam Cam. The image of Tam falling from an areca tree but constantly "reviving" shows a strong, unyielding vitality. "I want to bring that spirit to the show, not afraid of difficulties, ready to conquer challenges," said Suni Ha Linh.

Suni Ha Linh, 30 years old, was born into a family where both her parents and older sister are dancers. Her father is Ngo Dang Cuong - former principal of the Ho Chi Minh City Dance School. The singer has released many music projects that have attracted views on YouTube such as "Chu Chill" (106 million views), "Khong Sa Ma Em Day Roi" (84 million), "Cam Nang" (15 million), "Thich Roi Day" (12 million).

She accepted the invitation to join the show earlier this year. "This is an opportunity for me to meet new friends, learn and experience new things about the profession. I also want to show the audience more clearly about my own style and personality - something I have not shown before," she said.

Sister Riding the Wind and Breaking Waves is a top-rated TV show in China, having been released for five seasons. Since 2023, the crew has been aiming for cultural diversity by inviting many foreigners to participate. The contestants will perform music and dance individually and in groups. Those with the highest scores will form a new band.

In season five, Suni Ha Linh competed with 36 female stars, including five other foreign artists: Mai Davika (Thailand), Joyce Jonathan (France), Mari Kraimbrery (Russia), Nicole Jung, Sasha Alex Sloan (USA). The Chinese stars competing included Thich Vy, Han Tuyet, Tat Dinh Dinh, Tran Le Quan, Truong Du Hi...

In 2023, Chi Pu was the first Vietnamese artist to participate in the program, making a splash through many performances and winning the final cup. Thanks to the program's effect, she was in demand and had a large fan base in the Chinese market.
