On the morning of October 11, Mr. Ung Dinh Hien - Chairman of the People's Committee of Van Tuong Commune, Quang Ngai - confirmed the incident of a driver being buried to death by rocks inside the truck he was driving. Police and other authorities are investigating the scene to clarify the cause.
According to initial information, at around 2:30 p.m. on October 10, Mr. PVT (50 years old, residing in Da Nang City), driver of Khoi Phat Company, drove a truck into Thuong Hoa quarry to receive stone to transport to a construction site.
While stopping the car, Mr. T. is said to have climbed into the truck bed to check. At the same time, an excavator operating in the mine, due to carelessness and lack of observation of Mr. T. inside the truck bed, dumped rocks onto the truck bed, burying Mr. T. under the rocks.
The truck was still standing there after being filled with rocks, and it wasn't until more than three hours later, around 5:30 p.m. the same day, that people working at the mine discovered the incident.
The victim was taken to Quang Nam Central General Hospital for emergency treatment, but did not survive.
At around 9:30 p.m. on October 10, Van Tuong Commune Police received a report from Mr. Tran Dinh Cuong, Director of APH Hanoi Company - the unit currently operating in the mine area - about the above serious work accident.
That same night, the police coordinated with relevant units to conduct an autopsy and collect evidence to serve the investigation.
"This morning, the working group continued to examine the scene and work with relevant parties to verify and clarify the cause," Mr. Ung Dinh Hien added.
