The stature of "The Tale of Kieu" in Vietnamese culture

Attending the discussion were cultural researchers, literary researchers, representatives of the Nguyen Du family (Nghi Xuan district, Ha Tinh province) and people who love literature, history and heritage.

The seminar aims to introduce and honor the value of cultural heritage through the work "Truyen Kieu" by world cultural celebrity Nguyen Du. This is also a meaningful activity to celebrate International Mother Language Day (February 21).

Delegates attending the discussion said that Nguyen Du and "The Tale of Kieu" is a unique cultural phenomenon, with value beyond all limits of time and space.

The work has permeated the spiritual life of Vietnamese people. This is expressed through many folk forms such as fortune telling, reciting and praising Kieu. "The Tale of Kieu" has also become an endless source of creative inspiration for many other art forms such as music , painting, cinema...

On this occasion, experts also raised many important issues about the context, content and stature of "Truyen Kieu" and the great poet Nguyen Du, while emphasizing the importance of preserving and developing "Truyen Kieu" in the contemporary context.

The timeless value of "The Tale of Kieu" and the stature of Nguyen Du were recognized by the international community when UNESCO honored him as a World Cultural Celebrity in 2013.

Discussion " The Tale of Kieu and the great poet Nguyen Du in Vietnamese culture" has special significance in preserving and promoting the literary value of the work as well as affirming the value and far-reaching influence of " The Tale of Kieu" in the flow of Vietnamese and world culture.

"The Tale of Kieu" is a Nom work, consisting of 3,254 verses in the six-eight meter. To date, this work has been translated into more than 20 languages ​​in the world, of which there are more than 10 translations in French, more than 10 in English and Korean, and 5 in Japanese...
